These photos are just in from New York. Courtesy of Gotham Dream Cars. I suspect they will have this car available shortly to rent along with their other incredible collection of exotic cars. Thanks to Noah and his team for the photos. Can't wait for it to arrive on the left coast for us to see it here.

The engine bay looks a little anime-style. Lots of coverings, curves and shapes. A little futuristic, artistic, maybe even video game-like compared to Ferrari/Lamborghini which simply display the naked engine.

Engine Bay

You do suspect not displaying the engine is driven by Ron D and his obsestion
with function over form.

I asked a senior McLaren guy when last at their HQ why they did not make a feature of the manifold and engine a la 458. The responce was that the low position of the engine prevents it being a feature!

Well there is some credibility to that but if you want to minimise weight then
eliminate the plastic engine covers, have a fancy mottled and paint finnish on the manifold and hey presto an emotional customer impact. Obsession with weight! Missed opportunity.

Still can't get excited by MP4-12C. At least Ferrari call their 458 an Italia!

Come on Ron, What about MP4-12C Englander, ah no, Woking, er no, FireBlade, er no Mr Honda - Button, Hamilton, Sena, no again.

Give up, it is the MP4-12C then.
