Wow, that's one issue we could well do without..........so we will have to clock up mileage big time within warranty!!!!!

Must admit I have always been dubious that all of the delays were just down to IRIS, especially when a month ago they said the cars would be delivered without a fully functioning IRIS and that when fully sorted, just needed a software/firmware upgrade which could be carried out at your location.

Even with the thousands and thousands of miles done in testing and durability, they cannot recreate every scenario.

Not gloating though, as it’s puts my delivery further and further away and I really think my last quarter delivery will now be Feb or March 2012!

One slight positive is that whilst I finalised my spec almost three months ago, they haven’t asked for my second instalment yet.

A post earlier this week said the first customer car was on a transporter en route to the dealer.

Looks like it must have got lost between Working and London!

Ron doesn’t want to let go his baby anytime soon.

hopeful it's the exception(s), not the norm(s)...

I wonder if such is the reality (detonating motors @ ~10k miles), is it more of a McLaren/Woking matter (design/development) or a Ricardo/WestSussex issue (QA/QC)?

The engine reliability/dependability are paramount hallmarks for me. Generally speaking, such is what kept me largely away from non-NA offerings. I can/will overlook just about any other quirk, kink or such on a platform that I'm so enamored towards (MP4-12C), but I don't think I could stomach kaboom'ing motors! :D

Heard via the grapevine that a few of the test engines have gone bang around the 10k mile mark and this is one cause of the delays. Anyone else heard this? Any truth to it?
I would have seriously thought that would have been picked up very early on considering a lot of the press cars had mileage in the 6 figures. Plus engines would have been first benched tested way over that mark in all conditions. Probably Ferrari trolls trying to damage the brand, I wouldn't spead this consdiering not 1 customer car has been delivered. Personally I think it is BS, I remember when thay anounced that McLaren would produce thier own engines there was a lot of internet BS about them having problems and that they would switch to MB engines, what a load of crap that was.

As said before why now after so many years in development would the test engines would have gone bang after only 10K and a few weeks to delivery?? seriously! and at this late stage?? get real is BS. I do know that IRIS has been a problem hence the offer of it free (and IPAD) until it gets working.

complete rubbish!
