I think it is going to be awesome. Dropping into the carbon tub without a roof is going to very special, indeed. Hope they managed to keep a clear engine cover. My guess is that it will be only slightly heavier than the coupe, but the torsional rigidity should be about equal. There, I've almost convinced myself to buy one!

I think a spyshot of a black one with UK plates on UK roads is in Autocar / Auto Express magazine this week?....

It has a fancy 3 part roof that folds down behind the seats to make a larger 'targa' opening :)

I'll edit this later with the mag and page number :)

ETA Autocar, p19

I have a deposit on the first spyder car on the east coast USA. I was hoping for the same thing. I think that a targa type with a glass cover would be the best way to go.

Gonna be similar to italia except the 12c will fold behind seats instead of flip over like the italia..........so that the 12c can retain glass engine cover. It will still probably b three piece HT design ala italia........should look pretty cool...... 12c gt3 front bumper will finish the look;)........don't hold your breath for that though

I don't need to hold my breath. I just need to let hold of my wallet:D I'm sure that MSO has a 20K up charge for that. If it folds behind the seats, will the glass cover keep the same pitch or will it be flat? It would be cool if it maintained an angle.

Glass cover will likely be flat.

That's a great shot. It seems too similar to not be a 12C. I have heard that the F1 car will be distinctively different. The one thing for sure is that glass is not flat. I can't speak for the tail pipes. May be they are trying to gauge top down engine noise with different exhaust options.

I thought the car above was probably a test mule for the F1 replacement rather than the MP4 spider as why would the tail pipes stick out like that
I believe you are correct. Many of the P12 mules used to test the new running gear are nearly indistinguishable from the 12Cs.

No, look at the roof. The pipes are in the same place where the 12C Coupe have them. The P12 has an enormous flamethrower in the middle of the rear.

The pipes can be in lots of places in prototypes. For example, look at the exhaust pipes in this Pagani Huayra prototype:
