Hi all you MP4-12C owners

My name is Peter Spencer and I work for a company called Kärcher in England. It may interest you to know that we designed, developed and installed the water leak test facility (otherwise known as 'monsoon') for the McLaren MP4-12C at MPC in Woking.

We also designed and built the test facilty for the SLR at MTC.

Other projects we have worked on include:-

Rolls-Royce Ghost
Bentley GT0
Aston Martin Cygnet
Jaguar X-Type

So, you can rest assured that your cherished MP4-12C has been tested in probably the best leak test facility on the planet!

Let me know if you would like more information.

Don't know if I'd go bragging about the Cygnet...

J/K

Congrats on the good work! How many gallons of water per hour characterize a monsoon?

Anyone who uses an automatic car wash on their Mac will be taken out back and flogged. :)

Carwash

Hi Falb

There is no reason why you couldn't put an MP4-12 through an automatic carwash, provided the brushes are 'foam', in good condition and the shampoo is dosed at the right quantities. Personally, I would recommend a high pressure pre-wash before the brushes are applied.

This way, you get rid of the heavy particulate, so the brushes do not have any particles to rub into the paintwork. Our machines use 60 bar pressure as a pre-rinse.

Rolls Royce have one of our machines at their factory and I can tell you that they only installed it after many months of tests and analysis.

We also have them installed at many BMW, Porsche and AUDI dealerships

Those look like very fancy machines there, Karcher.

Not sure if the machines in my area would be of equal quality.

I opt for paying 50% more to have a hand wash done where I am, office or home, from the same guy. The car ends up 100% better than a car wash. Wheels are completely clean and no water spots.

I agree; there is "no substitute for a hand job" as they say in England.

We generally cater for the mass market; company car drivers, mothers with children and the edlerly who cannot do it themselves.

Handwash is on a massive growth spurt in the UK and thankfully most of them use our pressure washers !

ive been using a k5 machine machine for the last 2 years been a good machine except the pump seized just under the 12 month warranty so got it fixed, i would of been unhappy if it happened after 12 months.

Ive had the 'perfect hand job' as the slogan on the van for a while, most people laugh, stare or take pics its just a play on words. Before you ask ive had none of those phone calls!

Falb you need to give Rich at gloss-it a call he will make the car look amazing, and protect it from harsh UV out there.
