The thing is - the turning vanes are very precisely position to make sure air gets into the radiators - moving them even 1mm renders them ineffective. I'm guessing these side openings would create a pretty big problem in that regard.

That looks like a perfect way to ruin and blow up a 12C.

Barf. It is certainly, however, one way to make sure your resale is zero.

I'm not completely against mods, but I think they will have to come from McLaren to look decent. The whole form factor of the 12C is so aerodynamically tight that any add-ons will need extensive wind tunnel or CFD testing just to look like they belong. That's why the GT3 race car looks good, but this does not.

If some wants to make their 12C look like a 12C GT3 then you could simply remove the factory wing, that would delete the air brake and variable downforce, and put a fixed wing similar to the GT3 then replace the front lip with a more aggressive one that will likely get hung up on curbs and such on the street. At least you could convert it back to factory.

I would assume that there will be attempts to boost power through the computer and some hard parts. That will likely work out okay on the street or drag strip but would likely overwhelm the cooling systems on any road course.

I saw a NASCAR add on TV talking about how they are going to fuel injection and they show a McLaren ECU. They are the official supplier of the FI systems.
