I was in the tent today for a preview shoot for Teamspeed with another photographer. They have a special 12C that is not the GT3 that might interest this crowd. I took a lot of photos as did my cohort who is much more a professional photographer, but they are embargoed until tomorrow so I can't share yet.

I will be back at the tent tomorrow afternoon for one of the discussion events and will snap a couple of pics then to share via my phone if I have the time. Otherwise I am sure by tomorrow evening there will be quite a few images circulating in other locations.

I don't have a pass yet for the Friday evening event and their PR gal said she couldn't put "Media" on the list as she'd turned down several other requests. I tried to argue that I was not "Media" but rather an adoring fan ;) and while she felt bad about it she couldn't bend the rules for me. :(

I did get to see my 13th McLaren F1 today - chassis #036. Met the owner at his home and spent about an hour with the car. As you can see, it is quite lovely!

I really can't say at this point as we were sworn to secrecy. I can say tomorrow - which for me is Friday since it is still 11pm on Thursday here, but it will be 8 or 9 PM your time on Friday when I get back to the tent and can snap phone pics to share.

So that it doesn't drive you bonkers, it's not a totally different car, but there are things about it that are different. ;)

Keep in mind that I am very familiar with all of the options currently available for the 12C so this is more than just a full-spec car. It's "special". :)

Sleep is over rated and it's technically "tomorrow" here now, right? :D

Allow me to direct your attention this way:

Thanks Peloton25,i would suspect most of the early customers would have had these carbon options, much nicer than the front and rear splitter as its something thats going to be seen more, and the plastic looks too cheap for a car at this level.
This front wings look good also ,but maybe as a daily driver the uptake wouldnt be so great. Its interesting that the total price is only $270k,cheap in the uk,but i suspect thats for the base car?

Thanks for the advance scoop- lovely to wake up to.

Can somebody at Pebble try to get more technical information about the mods (in particular the louvered front fenders and the new wheels). i.e. if there are really performance improvements, what type and magnitude? Are those wheels even lighter then the super-lights? They seem larger, so perhaps not, although the spokes are very thin! Also, are the louvers for better cooling or more downforce, both? At what trade-off to drag, etc.

They should've used louvers like the GT3 car has, not those ones that look like a gimmick. Set into the fender like the GT3 car looks a whole lot cleaner and really works with the car whilst those just look like add-ons IMO.

Well our car starts at $229,000 USD if that helps in figuring the numbers. I took it to mean that the optional paint and exterior extras that are visible on the car would add about $50,000 to the price. If you went all out in the interior expect that would raise the number even more.

I'll try to get more clarification on the other details later today. :)

To be honest, at first glance the car looked a bit after-market or tuner to me. I think it is the wheels and ultra low profile tires. But I'm going to let it sit and see what other photos look like. Wish I could see it in the flesh to have a more informed opinion.

Not sure what to make of the roof. At first I thought it might be a dark-tinted glass roof, which could be really cool on a 12C. But just painted black seems simply to appease owners wanting the same option as Ferrari? Can't help but think it will be a fad in the long run.

Yes, perhaps on the roof. You could always get it wrapped pretty easily too that way if you change your mind over time it can come right off.

I don't believe the wheels are larger - I will verify today.

look like 235/35 z20 so 1inch bigger than standard at the front
Wheels are not larger. It is the diamond cut face and black wheel centers that give that impression.

so when will they be adding the big rear wing, and those blue lights under the chassis - they're sooo cool? I have to say it looks cheap and kit-carish, but that's just me. Also, why is McLaren doing stuff like this when they've got an army of impatient/pissed-off people who would just like to get a normal car?!

I really like the rear carbon vents. They seem like they will stand out and really suit a carbon engine bay.

The vents are a no go for me. They are used to let air escape the wheel area and under the front. They work well but in this configuration would appear to add some drag and upset the lines of the car. I assume that the inset venting would be subject to too much stone damage.

The black roof would be good but the pillars are all body colored so it wont really work in my opinion.

I particularly like that they are trying different things and letting us look at them. Now they better let us order these items.
