McLaren Owners first Annual US Rally?

Does anyone have reliable production numbers for deliveries to the USA and Canada, including their geographic distribution? I'm wondering if there'd be enough cars to make a National Rally worthwhile next year? The geographic distribution would help decide the best location to hold it - obviously somewhere central to all, preferably at or near a good track (such as VIR, Laguna Seca etc)
If it proves feasible, we could for example;
- get some form of sponsorship from one or more dealerships to help defray the costs
- get key McLaren personnel along, such as Anthony Joseph, Sherif, Stevenson, Goodwin, (Ron?!) etc to talk about the genesis of the car
- hold driving schools with e.g. Goodwin
- get a GT3 car along
- get other milestone McLarens to attend such as F1, can-am cars, etc
- generally have a jolly time

I've been to a couple of Ford GT rallies organised along these lines and they've all been great fun and have resulted in new friendships around the country.
This might sound a bit premature, but these things take a good deal of long-range planning, so a Rally in say, Q1 of next year would need addressing pretty soon.
I'd be happy to help with time and effort if it looks to be feasible/practical.
Just a thought......

I also have attended Ford Gt rally....great time and forged some great friendships..The ford gt rallies would serve as a great template as they have been highly successful. I would think we need at least 30- 40 owners / cars in attendance to make a go of it...If successful the regions would of course change year over year and as such car transport costs etc are eventually met by all...Lots of the Ford Gt guys have their own trailers. Some used transporters( I shipped mine to Las Vegas to run on Las Vegas motorway) and many drove and enjoyed the trip along the way...I would suggest starting a poll for owners to canvas the level of interest..Thanks for initiating this thread...

Sounds like a great idea and I'm all up for it. Let's make this happen!
Guys, the wheels are in motion. I'll report beck with responses from the factory
Totally in.
Count me and a friend in!! specially if their is track day involved. I would ship the car or trailer it to West coast or East coast for a true Mclaren Wknd/Rally!

I'm definitely interested. As far as the number of 12C's in North America, it was supposed to be 125 in 2011 and 700 in 2012. Lots of 12C's in CA, with 30+ so far from McLaren SF, at least 50 from Beverly Hills, not sure how many from Newport Beach.

I think it would be helpful if this ( originating #1 post ) was a "Sticky Thread " in owners section..This thread will evolve over the course of the year as more cars are delivered and more owners become interested..The participation should be significant and access should be easy..,,imho.:)
Once again ..glad you initiated this thread..thanks

Interested depending on how far away it is. Maybe we can arrange a trailer to make pickups from further-away places? I would love to drive the 12C on the PCH in California but alas it's quite a ways from Chicago.
I've got the contact details of the guy who does all the FGT transportations to the rallies (there are some cissies who don't like to put 4K miles in a week on their cars). He also hauled my Cobra from Pebble Beach to Houston and was very reasonable, plus extremely careful. I'm sure that if and when this thing comes off we'll be able to arrange transport for the needy.

So far had good feedback from the UK side of the Factory, but still waiting on the US Mac folk - I'll update as soon as I hear anything
If arranging quality transport is new to you :
When time comes this is easier than one might imagine ..We shipped 5 GTs to Las vegas for the GT Rally and we had several carriers interested..If a number of cars within a region are available , we will get good quality ( enclosed drive on hydraulic lift) shipping at fair rates..We shipped roundtrip and this is good business for any transporter...I am happy to help in the Florida region when the time comes..Depending on time of the year, it would be great to consider a region with twisties as well as track access,,,IMHO..
Definitely interested if there's an east coast version

RWD..thanks for the sticky...;)
Any updates? After seeing some more pics of the F1 meet in Italy, I'm raring for a 12C meet!
OK

the USA McLaren guys are working on it, the UK McLaren guys have said they'df be happy to help in any way they can. I understand that by the end of 2012, 5-600 cars will have been delivered in the US so a good attendance should be easy-peasy.
Aynoe have thoughts/preferences re: track? Given the location of the dealerships around the States, it should be fairly easy to define a general location for the rally, but either way, some folk will have a long drive/transportation ahead of them. I love driving so anywhere within 1500 miles of Houston works for me!
I'll contact the Factory guys for an update and report back
