Went along to Woking today at Mclaren request to give them feedback on ownership and experience so far. Gave them 'warts and all' along with the positive stuff.

Squirrel is requesting feedback for Andy to collate and give to them tomorrow.

It is clear to me they are continuing to make fast progress on improvements and thus customer feedback plays a part.

had to take my MP12 back to it's place of birth.....my wife thinks I'm daft

By the way we did discuss the sound system and one guy who had researched the impact of the source material basically said junk any Apple source, reload your material into Windows Music Player (WMA I think he said) and hey presto fantastic Meridian with base and depth..........I have 15 weeks of music on Apple..........ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

They accepted Doris has been mishandled but seemed coy about expectations other than they had to deliver.

LSR = Land Speed Record

Wikipedia said:
Maverick
In 1993, Ron Dennis announced the formation of McLaren Advanced Vehicles (MAV) and an attack on the Land Speed Record with the Maverick supersonic car. Bob Bell was recruited as the technical director for the project.[3] The project was given a budget of £25 million.[4] But after the success of Richard Noble and Andy Green's Thrust SSC, the project was shelved.
Popular Mechanics included mention of it along with some specs in their September 1995 issue which can be viewed here.

Beyond that, very little real data or photos were ever released. Someone sent me an image of the mockup at the MTC recently but I'm not sure they (as in, McLaren) would appreciate me sharing it.

Yes, that is on display and it is BIG but I have a vague memory that it is a replica, not certain.

What they did say was Ron has not sold a F1 car since shortly after he started and has 200 FI cars in the collection. When you get up close to the 'aerodynamic' era cars the detail is amazing just as the early 80's car are so 'simple' in comparison. The car Lewis won his first GP was from the 'aerodynamic' era and is stunning in it's detail and must have spent hours, if not months, in the wind tunnel.

Any word if improvements will come down the line for the current or next year? How about updates to performance aspects of the car (maybe software or setting updates), prior to release of the track oriented model (hopefully, stiffer suspension/grippier tires, VGT turbos, DI, etc)?
Also, why the choice of the Pirelli P-Zero Corsas instead of the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires?

It was more of a one way session although there was acknowledgement that updates and changes will occur but no , understandably I think, set timetable. I'm pretty sure there will be a mapping revision and they need more feedback on throttle, box, engine behaviour so they capture and or grasp our issues.

Quick report on my trip to MTC/MPC today.

As always, first class hospitality and great chance to meet fellow owners, although unfortunately, I didn’t get much chance to speak to Andy C.

Spend a thoroughly enjoyable lunch on the same table as Antony Sheriff, who gave us a good chunk of his time and wasn’t in any way hurrying to get rid of us.

A very genuine guy, who was very frank with the issues and problems and genuinely embarrassed and disappointed at the problems experienced to date and made no false promises or commitments that couldn’t be fulfilled.

Whilst there, myself and two other owners had our doors adjusted and the difference in closing is night and day.

No new parts fitted, just changes to the position of the latches and how tight the door fits against the rubber.

Definitely worth having your dealer look at, next time you are there.

Same here Zippy,8 customers and really the top 4 guys (sorry Ron,i know you were away),far too short for me but i could have spent the week there.!
Very informative and all the issues we have are being looked at,and solutions either already ready or on the way.It was great that they are interested in listening and our views are helping them move forward for the benefit of all.
I would like to take this chance to thank everyone involed, that i didnt on the day, very rushed for Syd and i as we had various other forms of transport to catch to get home.

But it was nice of them to give us a quick peek of the P12,What did you think Zippy???

Andy, I've always suspected Hull is trapped in a time continuum ! It must be April 1st already.

Did any of you got any feedback on the harness issue ?
Sorry,it was the last thing on my list, and i ran out of time.I will try to find out,but i suspect it wiil be saved for the Gt3 and then an option later.
One thing that was of interest to everyone is they have just decided to limit numbers to individual markets ,while opening new ones, obviously designed to keep the residuals up for current customers,we were told that as of this week numbers will be capped around 180 to 200 for the UK for the calender year..Good news i think

Nice to hear that they are addressing owners concerns! Just wondering since the car doors closing seems to be a big issue for most is there a quality control / assurance in place to make sure the doors are closing properly and easily for cars leaving the factory now and in the future? I trust the techs at the various dealers are aware of how to fix them, but think it should be something that would be addressed before reaching the dealer.

Very interesting andy. My previous understanding is that every car is built to order, i.e. they will not send inventory unless there is a real customer order behind it. Is that still the case and now, in addition, once those 200 cars for UK are ordered that's it no more until 2013 model year? Thanks.
