My car goes back to San Francisco to fix phone issue and Ipod not pairing issue. Comes back, drive car today, pair my phone, wife calls, still sounds like crap. Sound comes only from Center speaker, crackles, obviosly gain is too high. How long does it take to fix something so simple? Your program should have the voice of the person calling cone through all speakers, and turn down the gain.

In addition, fix the calibration of the fricking touch screen!

Pathetic my Dealer says all fixed, and it comes back with small scratches on the touch screen and nothing is fixed! Can't be a daily driver with crap phone and Nav. "And" car my fricking ass. It's a fast track car!

Seriously, hire some new software programers!

Mark just go out there and enjoy the car for what it's meant for, which by the way is being driven, and I know you know that, its just a friendly reminder. Now who in their right mind wants to listen to music, or their wife/girlfriend on the phone or for that matter the navi person LOL. All I want to do is listen to the sound of the engine, which puts a huge grin on my face every time I drive this baby. What I've said is extremely subjective, yet I love to drive and I love to drive cautiously fast without all of these freaking gadgets. Cheers...??

So I was out to the po alto Mac dealer. They also have fisker there, which look very cool in person.

Anyway, they have three cars. Noone will give you a test drive. The floor cars are all locked and the assistant won't let you in. A guy finally comes on the floor 20minutes later and is busy selling a gtr to some dude and "does me a favor" unlocking the spider to show my friend--I'm basically doing the job for the dealer. Ignores us for another 20 minutes (to be fair, he was the only guy there, but wtf).

We get annoyed and leave. Shitastic place. We went down el camino to tesla. Amazing car. Amazing attention to detail on the car and dealership.

Anyway, night and day compared to the Phili mclaren dealer; Phili Mac
Dealer is awesome. If I went to the palo alto Mac dealer, i would never have bought the car.

Anyway, sorry to hear the trouble. It sounds like audio/phone was best under 10.5. I have a bit of static as well, think I have 10.6. I wish the updates would come more frequently.

Btw, tesla comes with free 3G wireless Internet and free over the air updates! Amazing. Would love this on macs!

I was just at McLaren SF last week, they couldn't be nicer. I didn't buy my car there (which they knew), but had spoken with them in the past. They also knew I hadn't been there since the Spider was released, but invited me to sit in one and showed me the new features, even tried out the roof mechanism a couple of times. Super friendly and accommodating IMO. But I can understand why they would ignore a certain "select" few.

These dealerships that show no interest in you the customer, the reason they exist, should all be canned.

From what you stated in your comments about the dealership in Philly sounds very much like the one we have up here in Canada eh. Must admit the atmosphere, enthusiasm and professionalism is superb and is truly key to their success or for that matter any dealership.

I love my car for everything that its capable of doing from a driving standpoint. Admittedly if my dealership had the lack of common courtesy and professionalism that you've mentioned, I most probably wouldn't be driving a Mac today.

McLaren Toronto is the best, the group that owns this dealership has won the prestigious award for being one of the top 50 best managed companies in Canada.

Have I mentioned how much I love my car, way to go McLaren and way to go Pfaff aka McLaren Toronto, okay and Philly. Cheers....??

I am really tired of comments like these. They are releasing crap software and hardware with very shoddy check procedures. Anyone running a business daily driving this car would not be happy with the crap Nav. and phone quality.
How did my Dealer test to see that they fixed the problems? Probably just powered on the radio, that's it.

Can't wait for my 458 Scud.

It'll come, by pure coincidence, and at ludicrous cost, just in time for the 12C "scud". Good times whatever the outcome.

At least you didn't get a Pagani with the faulty latch;). Especially with software, it happens. I had a BMW before that had all types of software gremlins... It's either a simple layout like the Mac or perhaps a much more cluttered console...

I agree with you Mark. While there are people out there who don't listen to their radio, most of us still listens to the radio, uses the navigation from time to time and make calls on bluetooth.

In this respect, Mclaren needs to hire better programmers to fix the bugs on IRIS. While I don't have any proof, my gut feeling tells me that it is more of a hardware issue than software. I think Mclaren probably sourced the various components from different manufacturers and tried to make them work together with programming. This is why despite their numerous updates, there are still tons of bugs in the system.

If the components came from the same manufacturer, then programming them to work together is significantly easier. This is just my guess!

Instead of trying to do it all and coming up short in their non specialist area they should have out sourced, may be to Apple or Garmin.
Reminds me of the saying "jack of all trades master of non " stick with what your good at and employ experts for the rest, this also goes for PR, another area they have failed miserably in.

Remember this .... "I understand you guys want everything promised to be working, but seriously, only car I use Nav on is my daily driver. Iphone and free mapquest app. works great on my cars with crappy or no Nav at all. For now, enjoy what the car was designed for, performance driving." ..... I probably wasn't the only one who was tired of such comments at the time. I find it all rather amusing now. :D

I have to agree with Mark. McLaren claims that they are perfectionists. Their buildings are clean/sterile etc etc. We have heard all this before. Yet their product(the ONLY thing that matters) has multiple issues that prove that they are incompetent. This not only applies to the 12C but also their F1 program!! Their Ethos and the end result donot coincide.

Why would u not outsource the Sat/Audio to one company is beyond me.

Well I have a different opinion with your statement, a large percentage of the components on this vehicle are outsourced. Which is where the so called problem lies, these issues need to be resolved in concert with manufacture and supplier which at times can be a tall order. As mentioned these so called electronic glitches, issues or annoyances I honestly could care less about. Yes it's something that came with the vehicle and in time will be resolved, but bad mouthing won't solve the problem. Whats of the utmost importance to me is how the car performs on the road/track which is at the forefront for me and they have achieved in flying colours. If I want a car that has all of these great toys like navi, audio, bluetooth massaging/ventilated seats etc I go and drive my luxury liner. Come on this is a super car which is meant to be driven and may I add driven hard. The last thing I'm concerned about is all the electronic crap as mentioned its not a luxury car.

Extreme, I can go drive other cars too, but God!, the 12 c is supposed to have all this stuff, we paid for it, so it is reasonable to have an expectation that it works! My bluetooth is 100% unintelligable in use - no-one can understand a word through it. My GPS is so bad and inaccurate as to be unusable. The various software upgrades (I'm on v10.6) have done nothing to fix things. I can get a free Google maps app that works great, or a Garmin for little money that is fabulous; how come McLaren cannot produce something workable. Jeez, they've even got a dedicated electronics company that could be brought in to help, so we should expect functionality and usability. If the car had been sold as a monster track machine, these things would not be so important, but it wasn't; it was sold as the all-singing, all-dancing supercar that could be a daily driver, and daily drivers need stuff that works!
Climbing down from my soapbox now....

One that's just won an award for it'd work- certainly not its work on it's own cars, that's for sure!!

I saw the link on their Bookface page, I was going to post something but thought it wasn't worth the effort- however maybe it might make a new department listen..

Collected my car back on Friday and can't get the phone to sync with the car any longer
However it drove back brilliantly

That's where I guess we all differ tex, when I pull the car out of my garage all I want to do is drive it, without all of the distractions. Currently I just don't care about the gadgets, if I could I would rip it all out just to lighten the load and make the car a tad bit faster, not. Who knows one day I may want to use the car as a daily driver, then and only then I may come to the realization that you guys where right and that I was a total idiot. Don't get me wrong I truly understand what's being said and how these things should work, that day will come I'm sure it's just a question of time. Cheers....??

I figured I should add this after the comments that I had posted previously. Took the putt-putt out today for a short ride to a couple of different locations of interest, which I imputed into the navi system. The system in my car seems to perform flawlessly, so not to sure what the problem seems to be. My next little project will be to give both the blue tooth iPhone and MP3 a try, which will occur on my next little field trip in this beautiful car of mine. Cheers.....??

I completely agree with you also. No one buys a car like this for much else other than the performance and the drive but the reality is the car is being sold advertising a lot of creature comforts so it's nothing other than entirely normal to expect them to work.

I use my car pretty much daily and whilst I limit my time on the phone in any car, I do need to have that option. I also get stuck in traffic sometimes so I like to listen to the radio and there are also times I don't know exactly where I'm going, especially in Malaysia. You need and want the kit to work and quite simply it should, that's in no way controversial or unreasonable and it is definitely turning some people off for sure.

All my issues with McLaren have been almost exclusively around those systems, everything else I have to say has been great. The dealership here in Singapore is absolutely first class in the way they deal with everything, could not be happier with them.

But I still want my phone and my satnav to work.............!

lucky me i don't use the satnav (as it doesn't work where i live), try to avoid talking on the phone while driving the mclaren, and can't really hear the audio because of the sport exhaust. i just enjoy the drive and the car.

does the 458 even have proper satnav and bluetooth audio? the few times i tried to use my cellphone thru bluetooth, it worked properly -at least after the update was done and got these things working. the audio still sounds crap despite being supposedly being a premium brand with DSP.
