It had to happen to me !!!!
Went out first thing and checked the oil,1 BAR BELOW MINIMUM:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
So carefully put in 1 litre,a bit more 1/4 litre, perfect .right on the money!!
Off to work and 1 mile later the biggest cloud of white smoke ive ever seen:eek::eek:
Bugger,what a plonker!!
The recovery went well, but i had a really shitty day, only to be told the engine holds 5.5 litres, but mine had drained down to 9 litres. So in effect i had turned my drysump supercar into a wetsump one:eek::eek:.
Long and short of it,it was a faulty oil level gauge and no damage done, but i am without her for 3 days, but my blood pressure is back to normal :)

Thanks to Manchester for keeping me calm, but the engineers must have initailly thought what a Numpty:D

Andy, not sure I understand. What volume of oil was in the car after putting in one litre?

Was the oil hot when you checked it?

White smoke I understand, that's OK. Blue smoke is terminal......or is it black smoke

When i put the litre in the car had been running for 15 mins and i checked it was the right temperature,so the car had been filled via the gauge that was faulty. As it said it was on Max but not above. So somewhere down the line it had already been overfull before i put more in even though it said it was below minimum !! Silly what one faulty sensor can cause,if there had been a oil level warning light independant it wouldnt happened???

Thing is i kept questioning myself, but after 12 years of 911 turbos ,i knew i couldnt have screwed up that much!

Andy, if a Mac with £25k or more of engine tells you it needs oil what do you do? Just bad luck if Ron's sensors mess you around.

I will mention it to him on Friday when we have a pint early doors.

We have no idea,as thats all ive put in and the dealership havent any records of putting any in!
Maybe the sensor was faulty from new and they used it to fill up the car at the factory???? putting more in than standard:confused:
