Any restrictions for lifting a Mac for tire changes? I have to change my tires on my Mac soon, are there any do's or don'ts for lifting/jacking a Mac?
Use the towing button on the door to stop the alarm going off. I always have them use a low jack on the jacking points rather than the pads, although I suspect the pads are fine. At my local tire shop, they knew exactly what they were doing.

There are four marked lift points, but you can also lift it in the centre. It helps if you lift the nose, and unless they have a particularly long jack, the front doors need to be open to reach the front lift points. It's really no different than any other car, but you don't want some bright spark lifting on the suspension parts or something. You might want to check underneath and see if your lift point stickers are still in place.

I literally just had PS4's put on Friday all the way around. I ordered them through Tire Rack and had them delivered to my local Discount Tire. I specifically asked for the most qualified installer and then showed them the four jack points (green dots) on the undercarriage and they used four low profile jacks as opposed to a lift. I watched closely and went off without a hitch. I will say that I never thought to mention the "tow" button as invisiblewave mentioned. Will keep that in mind next time. Luckily, the alarm did not go off :)

So - when you bring your Mac into a local mechanic or tire store for tire replacement - do you stay with your car? Do you allow them to drive the car into the bay? How much trust do you give these mechanics, most have never seen an exotic, let alone a Mclaren????

This is a false preconception. My local Discount Tire knew exactly how to jack my car, they even told me about putting it in towing mode.

But.....for the majority/many of the tire stores that do not have exotic/McLaren experience - I am curious as to how 'most' McLaren owners handle their cars around these inexperienced tire shops???

ESR-
I'm not positive if there is an insurance risk or a company policy, so not sure if most shops will allow the owner to drive the car into the service area/bays. I will say that they were extremely careful and in fact the guy that did my tires actually joked that he "promised not to break" the e/parking brake  when applying and releasing it! I politely asked if he mind if I watched to which he replied, "of course not". Additionally, when he was taking it in, I asked if I could see the P-Zero's when he took them off so that I could see how the foam inserts held up. He allowed me to come in long enough to snap a picture and showed me where all but a single foam panel had broken loose from all four tires.

I think as long as the tire company is a nationally known brand or has a high rated customer service record you should be pretty safe. I left feeling like he actually took extra measures to be careful with the car due to the exclusivity of the brand. In fact, it was raining that day and I actually saw him wipe the bottom of the soles of his shoes with shop towels before moving the car out. He for sure didn't see me watching him when he did that as I had already gone back into the waiting area.

Good luck and I hope things go as smoothly for your experience......

I took my 600Lt out today and went to 2 tire shops. First stop was Discount Tire who stated that they have never done a Mclaren but thought that they could use the Tesla puck jacks to lift it using the markers on the bottom of the car; however, they did not have the socket to loosen the lug nuts. Second shop also stated they hadn't done one either but could use the jack with the puck lifts without problems. They also did not have a socket. (note: I bought a socket when I first bought my Mac).
Called my authorized dealer who basically related that lifting using a jack with pucks is not a problem. He recommended to put the car in the up positon just to give more room. He also stated to be careful of the rotors when removing the wheels. He also added that he has seen some Mac doors damaged when left open, which occurred when the inexperienced wheel person torqed the lug nuts and inadvertently hit the wrench handle on the open door. So just trying to figure out which location I feel confident enough to go with. I still have a bit of life left on the Trofeo R's before I switch to the Pilot Cup 2's that are sitting in my garage. Thanks all to your input.

just bring your socket and let them use it 🤷‍♂️.

note ; responsible tire shops will not take a risk and work on high value cars . The risk /reward isn’t worth it for them and especially if you are not buying tires from them .

The easiest way to get a tire shop to do it for you is to take the wheels off the car yourself at home (leave it on jackstands ). Take the wheels to the tire shop and let them mount and balance the tires on the wheels . (This is what I do )

You're over-thinking this. What do you mean they don't have a socket? Unless you're talking about a non-marking socket (I take one with me), it's just a standard 17mm long socket. Biggest issue is the rotors, just have them be super careful.
One other thing I've just remembered, my local Discount Tire has the only touchless tire machine in the area, it removes and fits the tires without touching the rim. I think you're unlikely to be able to find one of those though.

Yep, good call. That's another point I forgot to point out when replying earlier. The Discount Tire shop I went to had and used the same tire machine. (y)
