I'd guess they have to change the damper to provide the additional travel. But since it's part for part, I can't imagine the weight increases all that much - couple of pounds maybe? Even if they have to add a completely separate control module, those only weigh several ounces. Whatever weight gain does happen I'd bet is inconsequential.
I have not seen the system yet but it depends what route they have taken. If they go for a bunch of linkages etc it will add some weight but not too much. a bigger shock with longer travel and different programing will not add weight i suspect. My interest is in if they get un-sprung weight or not.
