Great, no nonsense, commentary from one of the most highly respected enthusiasts. Can't wait to see the video version of his review.

Short and to the point. The supercar you can use everyday.

Certainly don't think he was saying the 458 looks like a bug. The 458 is a stunning car IMO. Maybe the 911 looking like a VW Bettle (aka VW Bug... a la Clarkson)?

Nah, he says McLaren styling is like 911 styling in the very next sentence. The bug reference is the Fezzas for sure. All the current models have the same insect face head on. But hey, to each their own.

How come Leno gets away with no number plate on the front, wish we could do that in Blighty?

In California we just pay the ticket if we are ever issued one. Generally only parking maids issue them, $100 USD in SF. I have a few, annoying but worth it.

CHP generally will not give a ticket, deep down they are car guys and appreciate not breaking the lines.

And if CHP/anyone else gives you the ticket, it's a $25 "fix-it" ticket. I've made several sneaky plate holders that bolt on to existing holes or tow hitches. Put the plate on long enough to have a cop sign off on it, then pull it right off. On the Porsche, I use the tow hook thread. No fuss, no muss, and if anyone asks, I just say I do it for track days.

I've seen people (neighbors) who NEVER put the plates on their car (in California) - through the entire course of their lease (three years). They just leave the temporary registration in the window. They DO register the car, just never put the plates on.

I actually got bitched at by a cop for leaving the sticker in the window - he didn't care at all about the plate. He felt like I was trying to deceive police by leaving it there (which I basically was).

Did you praise him for his enormous powers of deduction?

I have found that as I have gotten older, talking my way out of tickets is WAY easier. It used to be impossible. Now I hardly ever actually get the ticket. My Jedi voice is strong that way ("I believe the droiids you're looking for went thataway").

Well, that is - I wouldn't want to try it out in the current economic climate, where officers have been told they're part of a revenue stream. I have a feeling that if you get pulled over you WILL get the ticket. I could be wrong.

They must have converted to Sith then.

Interestingly the Police in the UK have to declare their Religion. In 2004 there were 13,083 Jedi Police in England but only 18 in Scotland . However there were 380 Sith in Scotland and none in England.

You appear to have a lot of experience with the cops.:D
Yeah... I don't know why... lol. Apparently my pickup truck attracts a lot of attention...

Worse was back when, I was building custom high speed motorcycles (read: 240+ hp sportbikes - 0-60 under 2.5s, top speed around 230-240 mph, high 7s quarter-miles). Those things were just WAY too easy to speed.

Spotted in the Bob's Big Boy parking lot last night.

McLaren need to change the default on the mirrors so they don't fold automatically when locked or every photo of one parked up is going to look retarded forever more.
