.......had to be done. Just crazy. Me and my wife couldn't stop laughing for 5 mins.

According to my dearler, Mclaren reckon the clutch should last the life of the car.

Compare that to a Lambo.

^ as the case w/ the (Nissan) Skyline GT-R, where warranty-coverage was voided by the multiple use of launch-control! Not sure if there was a class-action lawsuit stateside, but there was lots of fervor towards such.

Rich, was there any "break-in" period/protocol offered by the dealer w/ regards to any components/systems of the MP4-12C?

I believe that having a wet clutch makes all the difference. e.g. the porsche pdk launch control can we used over and over again.

I thought launch control was a gimmick until I tried it on a 458 on the mile straight at Millbrook Proving Ground.

We hit 186 mph, if my memory still works, before we had to retard to 50 mph to get round the banked curve...........it was sensational brutal acceleration that was just astonishing........and this was in torrential rain........the driving instructor had to peel each of my embedded fingers from the steering wheel.........wonder what a MP12 would achieve?

That experience will stay with me for some time....LOL YOU BET.

somebody knows, how often we are allowed to do this???? Because of the clutch!?!
When we did our training drive day, there was 8 of us, at a track, all of us did a launch control take off as well as normal, hard and soft starts on a PP car with lots of miles on it, never missed a beat !, and you know we were not the first to do it to this car !.

The boys at Mclaren do not seem worried in the least about the clutch.

So my advise go for it and let the smile's go on for ever......
