I just read the steps necessary to jump start the MP4 ( in case ) ....Although this is an infrequent situation,if it were to be necessary in nasty weather conditions..eliminating 17 screws and removing the panels could prove painful.
I would recommend McLaren find a way to expose (conveniently) two posts for jumping the car...[ only ] ..
My Rossion had a battery location similar to this and the exposed posts came in handy on one such ocurrence..

Probably decided against it due to strict MP4 diet....

I'm not sure I agree with jump starting it being damaging to the battery. I replaced the Pb battery in my Ducati with a LiFePO4 battery and it takes a charge off the standard 12v system (14.4 when running) without damaging it. There were also no warnings at all in any of the documentation against jumping it. Unless McLaren is running something other than a 12v system, I don't think jump starting it can cause any issues.

I agree that they should make posts available for jumping like other cars that have "hidden" batteries. if my MINI can do it, I'm sure McLaren can figure out a lightweight solution to it :)

Some vehicles have "jumping" connections available on fuse-box termininals in the engine-bay, front-firewall, and driver's side footwell.
