I've been following this thread because I am working with Chad & Mike at McPhilly on a 570. I prefer a 17 so I have some manuf warranty left but they said they can get a Mantis 2016 in the 155 range. I have no details on the car yet. I think max id want to spend on a 16 is in the high 140s, what do you all think?

This is where I'm at as well. Would prefer a 17' but would like to stay in the $140's. Lots of these cars have been sitting on lots for months. As mentioned earlier, there is a big supply and low demand at the moment.

Luckily I'm in no rush and wouldn't mind waiting until late fall anyways. I have an 18 Cts V to keep me occupied. 140s and complete maint. history is the only way I would get a 16.

How terribly unreliable are these cars? $7k/yr in maintenance and warranty could pay for a lot of things...

In other words - if you DIY your maintenance (oil change, grease, etc) and have the occasional item break, do you think you'd spend $7k/yr? $20k in a 3-year time frame? $20k in breaks is pretty unreliable...

When looking for a 570s on the used market, is it wise to call the dealer with the VIN to verify it currently has the maintenance and extended warranty package currently on the car? From what I've read, the extended warranty coverage (~$4800/year) is a must on these cars and to keep that intact, you need to to the maintenance and the dealer right?
Just checked with McLaren SF...570S extended warranty did indeed go up in price, from $3500 to $3999.

How much use have you gotten out of your warranty since you've had your car?
No use at all. But I see that as a good thing, it's an insurance policy and I'm just as happy never to use it. My car has been just super reliable so I'm counting my blessings, but I'll continue to buy the warranty extension.

Hey guys I'm considering selling my '17 Volcano Yellow 570S with 3900 miles. What's a fair price for both buyer and seller? Car has the unlimited miles warranty until May 28, 2020. MSRP was $216,480, plus Newport McLaren put on a FULL car clear bar, window tint, and skid plates. I didn't know the car had full car clear bra until after a year I had the car as the clear bra was that clear and good. So how much does a full car clear bra adds to the resale value? I think the original cost was like $8K as this with all the scoops, channels, and aero elements is very difficult to do.
Im still a noob with Mac values but I know a 19 with that msrp can be had under 200. 160s could be fair. See what Newport offers you maybe.

When a transmission going out could cost $30-40k for example, it’s worth it for the insurance. It also depends on how you drive it. If you drive it like it’s designed, it will break. If you drive it to dinner and to be seen, it should be fine but that’s lame

For a 2016 you will be in the high 140's to mid 150's depending on mileage. You will not find a 2017 near 140k under 10k miles. Maybe at 25k miles or something around there. There was a 2016 with 44k miles selling for 120k to give you reference. But yeah, right now, a 2017 with 6-8k miles you will be around 160k to 163k and thats for sticker price of around $220k so well equipped vehicles.

160 range for a 17 was what I was expecting. Waiting for one to come up for sale in the colors and options I want.

Sometimes I get enticed by going new. McPhilly has a 19 MCLaren Orange Spyder coming in. 220k msrp says they can get under 200 but I dno how far.

Well, someone got a 200k sticker car for around 175k new on a 2019 so assuming that same logic, coupled with the fact they said "Under 200" its probably right at $195k-$199,999

If that's true, then it's a garbage car. You would not believe the durability testing that other car makers perform. An engine or transmission failure under 100k miles is a disaster in 2019. Yes, even for an exotic.

These sellers wonder why their cars aren't moving on the used market, 2016 priced at $180k that's now out of OEM warranty... you can buy a new 570s with lower options around $190k with a full three year warranty.

Been looking for the past 2 months and this is pretty much what I'm seeing. They just sit and sit with zero price decrease and have the 3yr warranty either flat out expire or inch closer and closer to expiring as they sit collecting dust.

The folks with high spec'd cars out of warranty will definitely have a harder time selling.

I’ll provide a real data point for you, but I’m not sure how much it’ll help.

I purchased a 2017 570S coupe with 4K miles for $165k. Warranty good through the end of the year. MSRP on this car was $212k... I guess I’d call it a “mid-spec” car?

A better deal might have been possible; I’m not a skilled hardballer. But this car was almost *exactly* what I was looking for in terms of features and interior, exterior color schemes. And it was in pristine condition, with clear bra and ceramic coating, located about 30 seconds off my daily commute route. To me, very much worth paying a premium price.

Personally, I didn’t consider a 2016 if it didn’t come with an appreciable discount. The warranty is worth a lot to me, as I intend to drive the car regularly and with... intent >:)

I think it’s more difficult to evaluate the used marketplace if importance is placed on projected depreciation or similar value-based factors.

Best of luck,

Rich

Yeah, carbon is a tricky thing. Either people value it accordingly or its a waste on the 2ndary market.

So high spec, with tons of carbon fiber will not be "worth it" to a person whos entering the market in the 150-165 range. Its better to get a less optioned out car and with more warranty....The cost of warranty over 3 years will be 9-10k, so factor that into the used price accordingly.

Those with high carbon will need to wait for the perfect buyer who actually values all that, converting parts with aftermarket would be more expensive.

The 16 I'm awaiting to look at is high spec (245k msrp) with 8k miles. Asking is 159. I highly doubt any warranty Is left. Supposedly its a lease return. With the issues the early models had, the cost of an ext warranty and the asking price, this makes me want to wait till I can go new in the 180-190 range.
