As a new 12C owner, I must say there is a LOT to figure out with this car. Buttons, switches and levers, OH MY!

When driving at night, my dome lights come on (not the ones you can turn on manually). It's just above the rear view mirror. They are rather bright and annoying, not to mention distracting! Is there a way to dim or disable this? I can't find it anywhere...

I've never considered these smaller dim lights to be a distraction, since they are intended to illuminate the console at night. Although, with the original iris system, having the entire screen on standby (instead of being totally off) was a lot more eye catching at night. Thankfully this was addressed in iris 2.

In any case, I believe you can dim the interior lights using the trip computer stalk (on the left of the steering wheel). After starting the car, simply press the stalk down a few times and you should see the brightness bars of interior lights reducing on the left computer screen. Good luck:cool:

I think there is a further interior lighting adjustment opportunity in the sub menu. From memory, it is something like: vehicle settings, interior lighting...

I think it lets you tune the foot wells, the doors, and perhaps those lamps that are bothering you.

I can give it a check tonight, if this does not make sense when you go to the menu.

Good luck.

That's not a bad idea, actually...

The courtesy lighting setting you guys are talking about turns on the reading lights, not the smaller LEDs. There is no setting or button I can find for these two small LEDs.

I guess I'll just plug 'em up with some tape as suggested...

As a relatively new 12C owner as well, I want to express support for volder in that the various controls, driving modes, etc can be very intimidating for the first couple of weeks. I came from an 2007 Aston Martin that was a simple and retro as it could be and found that I had to totally ignore the various "doddads" while driving the 12C. I only tried to figure out the controls when parked in my garage.

Indeed, the 12C allows you to control many features, if you are inclined to fiddle. Although, when it comes to the business of driving, the fact that the steering wheel doesn't have any buttons was one of the most appealing features I noticed first. No need to worry about finger gymnastics :D Another feature I continue to love is the "rocking" paddle shift, being able to up/down shift so easily with either hand is bliss

In any case, as you discover more tricks of the McLaren you will settle with your preference and enjoy driving it even more :D
