Hello, McLarenLife Members.
This introduction is mostly from the FerrariLife forum, where I registered today.
Wrote it with the 'Life forums in mind. Pleased to meet you all:
I've been perusing both FerrariLife and McLarenLife forums for nearly a month.
I'm humbled by the halo of passion and grace surrounding these gems of automotive knowledge.
Quite inspiring to an aspiring owner.
I'm a 27 year old, US-born Syrian/Tunisian, who has been raised in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The father owned a small number of cars during his time, including a green Countach LP400 (Periscopo), and a few Benzes; but he remembers the soul and 'purr' of his black 365 GTB/4 (Daytona) with a rare and elevated fondness. He often says 'Ferrari is a Ferrari'. (I'm guessing as it was 20 years before McLaren would produce their first road-going car.)
Nearly forty years later, I'm hoping to begin the acquisition process on my first performance car during the first quarter of 2013. A difficult decision will have to be made between either the 458 and the McLaren MP4-12C. I'll be test driving the Mac next week. I'm being quoted a wait period of four months on either car.
Up until that point, I will be an active reader and passive poster.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have, including queries on automotive perceptions, preferences, and habits of the Middle East / Gulf region. Although my ownership experience has been limited, I will do my best to answer or refer you to a better source.
