Good morning,

Took the car out to the drag strip this weekend and noticed that the car was hard to start the next evening when i got home. The morning after the event when i went to put it on the trailer there was no issues but when I got it home after 6 hour trailer ride it did not want to start.

Car has down pipes, cat back and m-engineering tune. Was running MS108 fuel and R888Rs out back. Ran great and gave a few cage/chute and slick cars a scare lol. Made it to the top 10 and deep into the 10.0 index class.

Anyways the car also ran fine immediately after the event and on the way to dinner, even had some street fun with a fast GTR and Hellkitt.

Car still has about 50% 108 in it and the temps back home are 20* vs. 70* in AZ but i dont think that has effect on race gas like E85.

Car would try to turn over but no start. Not the same as when my starter went out which had no turnover at all. After about 6-7 tries it fired up and seemed fine while i pulled it off the trailer and into the garage.

I havent had a chance to try it again but i will after work. Anyone ever have anything like this happen or have an idea at what it may be? Hopefully just a hickup.

Anything ideas would be appricaited.

Thanks.

What you're describing is the DLD breaking and a spring getting jammed. Sometimes that will kill the starter, sometimes it breaks loose. I won't be surprised if you hear a rattling at idle or start having issues with sporadic idle at cold start.

I hope it’s not the DLD. You guys just swapped mine out for a newer style one ( captured springs ) a few months ago.

Ah yes, I didn't recognize the username, or at least didn't pay it any attention. If you've got a OBD2 dongle plugged in it could be rapidly draining the battery which would cause that same issue of a slow start.
