Hello gents and hopefully some lady P11drivers :)

Quick question: a few weeks ago I saw a thread with a yellowp11 with a black roof. How much would such an option be?

I've started the spec process and would love to have that type of a roof.

This is the cost on the Spider - probably similar on the coupe.

Gloss Black Roof Panel Finish $5,330

It isn't a glass roof though - it's just going to be paint on both coupe and convertible.

I'd be interested in hearing who you have decided to use for getting the vinyl wrap done.

I have been considering this for a while and was going to get it done in parallel with paint protection film, but neither Ventureshield or the company I eventually used (PaintShield) were prepared to undertake the vinyl roof wrap.

McLaren London have recommended having in painted rather than wrapped, but I am keen to retain the 'reversability' of the wrap solution.

I have used a company called wrapkings - http://www.wrapkings.co.uk - 07891 855 354

It's run by 2 brothers, Ben and William, they are meticulous, trustworthy and coincidentally do all the wrapping for a local Ferrari dealership too.

They are based in an enterprise unit in Cradley, West Midlands, so it may be a bit of a trek for some BUT for my 12C they're going to do the roof while I wait & watch - It's a 1/2 day job...

They can of course do stuff on-site if you're fortunate enough to have a clean & dust free garage with enough space, but my old barn is far from ideal!

They recently did an awesome full matte black wrap on my GTR (4 days work) and I can highly recommend them.

Hi, I am a owner of a Yellow MP4 with the gloss black roof. I love it, but to be honest do not remember the actual cost but I think in the 6G area. Your dealer can tell you. It is a MSO feature. the finish on it is so deep it looks like glass. Was better than I expected since I had never seen one in person but always wanted that feature.

I just read more of the posts. A wrap I do not believe, in my opinion, can achieve the finish, and depth of this painted top.
McLaren did an AMAZING job and I have to praise them 1000%.
Your post does not mention location but you are welcome to see mine if you are in the states.

You're right that a wrap is ultimately not going to be as deep as a top notch paint job with a lacquer overcoat, and your car certainly looks great!

But some of the latest wrap materials I have seen are amazing too, protecting the paint beneath and giving the added benefit of being completely non destructive.

Ty, illl email you via PM.

Would you care to comment on the "scratchability" nature of the paint vs wrap?

I was thinking of clear wrapping/place bra on the roof but my guys said it will give a dull look to the finish. Even the best 3M product causes refraction of light and will take away from the luster. So I decided to leave it naked, but keep well polished. I do not believe it will have anymore risk of scratches then other parts of the car as it has a clear coat and even fine scratches can be removed.
