Gentlemen:

Has anyone encountered a fairly loud clicking sound coming from the front when hard cornering? It seems like it may be tied to the speed of the wheel rotation, i.e., one click per rotation, but it's happeneing when I corner hard in either direction. In fact, it's unclear that it's coming from the wheels at all. At first I thought it might be the hydraulics making some noise as they loaded up the outside wheel, but I've never noticed this before. Phialdelphia McLaren will be checking it out but wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar issue.

No one has responsed to this so I am assuming I am the only one to have had the problem. Philadelphia McLaren just told me that the issue has to do with dirt/grit getting onto the mating surface where the wheel and hub join, suggesting that when the wheel is removed, both the backside of the wheel and the hub need to be thoroughly cleaned before remounting the wheel. They applied some anti-sieze lubricant to the surface as well and, voila, the sound is gone. Ordinarily I would not have believed that this was the cause, given how loud it was. However, about a year ago I had the same issue with the left front wheel on my GT-R , and the remedy there was exactly the same. With both cars, the lugs were always torqued properly - didn't matter.

Anyway, wasn't a serious problem, and it's an easy fix (DIY actually), in case it happens to anyone else.

Not yet, but I am dying to! Will be at the BMW dealer on 15 Sept for service appointment. Hope to then.
