No matter how much money you have, nobody wants to pay $2 for a $1 bill. So I thought I'd share four admittedly minor enhancements I made to my 750s, for a combined total of less than $100.
1) Phone Holder (about $7): I used the cap of a large spray can and a strong magnet to create a phone holder that allows me to securely anchor my I-phone right above the main cup holder in the center console. It's just the right height so that it looks like the phone is floating, and at the same time it's plugged into the 12" charging cable in a way that is virtually invisible. It also allows you to reach the buttons for the roof and rear window. And if I ever need to use the main cup holder for a can of Coke (that will never happen), I can just move the cap/magnet into the smaller cup holder that is under the tunnel in the center console.
2) Center Stripe on Steering Wheel (about $10): I used a small strip of 1/4 inch pin-striping tape that I got at Auto Zone and wrapped it tightly around the center section of my steering wheel, such that it ever-so-slightly compressed the leather under the tape. This resulted in a seamless surface, so you don't feel the tape, nor rip it loose, when your hand runs over it.
3) Tire Valve Cap (about 10): My car came with tire valve caps like those you'd find on a pickup truck. So I found McLaren-branded caps on the internet (Hex Mclaren Logo Emblem Car Wheels Tire Air Valve Caps Stem Dust Cover Sport | eBay)
4) Skid Plate Protection for front splitter (about $45 for 16 strips). I saw custom skid plates for the 750s ranging from about $650 to $850. Instead, I purchased a total of 24 strips of universal skid plate projection that has little "V" sections that allow you to bend the strips and cut them so the conform to the contour of the front splitter on the750s:
None of these are revolutionary enhancements that are going to transform your ownership experience, but I thought I'd share them in the hopes that maybe, just maybe, there are one or two other lunatics out there who find this helpful. If you have your own low-cost solutions/enhancements that you think others might find interesting, please add them here.
