Hi everyone,

I wanted to give a behind the scenes look at this completely one of a kind project that we've been lucky enough to be a part of; a 1-of-1 720s system that we have been working for quite some time for the IDS Supercars 720S build.

Mike has ran our 720S Race Performance Package for the better part of a year including many rallies and track days.

When it came time to take the build to the next level, Fabspeed was happy to step up to the plate and develop a custom 3.5" exhaust to support the additional power and exhaust flow from the Pure Turbos. If you've been following along on social media, the car put down a very healthy 1,000+whp. The end goal - an 8 second pass at TX2K in March. We'll keep you updated with the results!

What do you think of this unique build? Stay tuned for more content on this build including a Fabspeed sponsored IDS Supercars rally to San Antonio and my trip to TX2K!

It's difficult to hide our excitement with this project! Take a look behind the scenes for more R&D content:

With less than two weeks until TX2K, will the FastUFO make a world record 8 second pass? Stay tuned!

Fabspeed Motorsport was excited to make the journey down to Houston, Texas for the drag/roll racing nationals known as TX2K this past weekend. If you've been following this build, you're likely well aware of the hype surrounding this event.

Just to recap, the IDS Supercars McLaren 720S features Pure Turbochargers, Methanol injection, C16 Race Fuel and custom ECU Tuning to optimize the full line of hardware upgrades including our bespoke Fabspeed turboback exhaust and much more! The car put down a very healthy 1,050whp and was on the hunt for an 8 second pass.

The car was finished up late Friday night and slated to make its first shakedown passes at the event. The best pass (and second on the setup) resulted in a strong 9.32 @ 145mph. Track prep was unparalleled and unfortunately when combined with a set of sticky Mickey Thompson tires, the day was cut short via a broken axle shortly after.

This project is far from complete and planning on coming back stronger than ever - please stay tuned for more as the quest for an 8 second pass continues!

So the axle broke as a result of all the power. What is next step? Stronger axle?

I am a dummy when it comes to this stuff.

usually, you up the HP and see what the next weakest link is. There is a company https://www.driveshaftshop.com
that makes upgraded drive shafts for different cars. Pretty common in the GTR group of racers
Yes, a combination of great track prep and sticky tires proved the axle to be a weak link as the car left pretty hard. Axles are being built to support quite a bit more power :)

Fabspeed Motorsport is proud to offer a complete high-performance exhaust and tuning solution for the 2017+ McLaren 720S. With Cat Bypass Pipes you can expect a race car roar with loud backfires when you let off the throttle.
