Latest rumors seem to point to the F1 successor being delivered in early 2014. If so, production would need to start in 2013 with orders being taken about a year in advance. Looking at the timeline, it would seem that we would start to see development mules shortly. Anyone spotted a heavily modified 12C leaving the gates at Woking recently?

Being an ultra-exclusive hyper exotic high-performance sports-car platform, what proverbial competitors would it be slotted alongside! I'm curious of all what that prospective "owners" would consider, while mulling the decision?

ie. Zonda Huayra, Koenigsegg CCX/CCXR, SSC Tuatara, Porsche 918 Spyder, Ferrari F70 (Enzo-successor)... and/or Aston Martin One-77, Bugatti Veyron, etc.

Are there any other at/near 7-figure "road-going" offerings I missed? :D

Test mules up and running around december. Ferrari's F70 could be shown at geneva or latest in paris 2012. wonder how fast the F70 could go around Dunsfold? Aventador 1.16,5 sec not too bad considering the weight!

There's also the Hennessey Venom GT in that niche range. Probably the least desired though.

Not sure I would put the Hennessey Venom in that group give that it starts off life as a Lotus Exige.
I'd generally agree - I was just tossing out another $1M car with insane specs, regardless of how it comes about.

The Enzo 1min 24.9 sec. The Ferrari 458 Italia 1min 25 sec at Fiorano. Pretty much as the differens btw Ferrari vs Ferrari and the Aventador at Dunsfold. The new F70 better be MUCH faster than the Aventador! Why? Because is going to cost around 1.5 million U$! "Jesus" if Ferrari F70 does not improve the Aventador lap times with more than let's say 1 sec/lap then it's just nothing to have! The F70 should set the bench mark just as the 458 Italia did over the 430 otherwise it's just not worth the money! Let's hope they manage it, because that would put the pressure on the McLaren boys, and we who are the buyers of these cars get's better products! Waiting for my MP4-12C next year! GOOD GOD i wish i could afford the new P799 MAC:) Delivery times around christmas time 2013 accordingly!

Don't worry - whatever happens with Ferrari, they will issue a press release either touting it or explaining it for their kool-aid drinkers. SNAFU

I really don't think there will be a lot of improvement in times over the 12C without a lot of weight lost or better tires. There is only so much physics bending one can do over a 1.5 mile course and more horsepower will not be enough.

BTW. I hear the hennessy pushes quite a bit, but it is a cool car. Too bad it is priced 6 times more than it should be for a re-engineered lotus with a chevy.

Any idea what the FXX (EVO)s times were at Fiorano?

Fiorano FXX LPT

1min 16 sec with Martino Lopez. Michael Schumacher did 1min 22.3 sec in the showroom Enzo (2003) with Bridgestone standard tires. Dario Benuzzi did it in 1min 24.9 sec around Fiorano. Old man and everything:p

Ferrari 458 Italia with Fernando Alonso 1min 22.4 sec (2010) Remember that the 2012 models are upgraded dampers & E diff and Michelin tires and CCB brakes as standard. The tires alone is said to be doing 0.6/sec/lap. the rest another 0.4 sec, ie 1 sec faster car than the 2009 model.

Compare the FXX lap times around Dunsfold (M.Schumacher) 1min 10.7 sec. That should mean that the MP4-12C should be capable (With a F1 level of driver of course) around Fiorano in about 1min 19 sec bracket! No to bad considering, what an Enzo is valued at:)

I'm really keen towards knowing more about the forthcoming P13 ("911 competitor") as well as seeing it's design/form. It seems that it'll also be a carbon monocoque (mono-cell), mid-engine, and have the dihedral doors - all McLaren hallmarks.

The prospect of a high-performance exotic sports-car w/ all those attributes, but at the price strata of seemingly ubiquitous high-performance luxury GT sports-cars/sports-coupes (ie. MB AMG SL's, BMW M6 Alpina, Ferrari California GT, Maserati GranTurismo, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Bentley Continental GT, etc) excites me incredibly!

Looking fwd to it as well. Only problem with "911 competitor" teaser is that there are nineteen 911 variants currently, so competitor to which one exactly?!

I'd guess something in the $100-$150K US range.
