What discount did you actually receive from the dealer for not having a functioning Doris in your new MP12? Originally, some said they did not have to pay for it at all and would receive the upgrade for free later and others have said the discount was $2,000.

Discount on Doris

Gallardo62:

I am glad you received a 100% discount on Doris. That is what I would expect any class company to do. Anyone who does not receive a fully functioning Doris at the time his or her car is scheduled for delivery should be treated equally and receive a 100% discount with a free upgrade when it is perfected. Why should any of us accept anything less?

I also agree...It is no less inconvenient for those of us receiving our cars now.It either has it fully operational or not. There should be strong incentives for McLaren to get it right and soon..100% free is the proper incentive...We are paying the same for the car as earlier customers and yet we are not receiving the same consideration. It is the only McLaren position I find incongruous with the brand image they are commited to building...McLaren should be proactive and just underwrite this until the deliverable is ready at factory level...

30% here, I don't mind as long as we get the system eventually. I am really looking forward to being able to add my songs wirelessly, access email, and so on.

I got the (absence of) Iris for free, ie a EUR 6k discount, but the dealer tried to present it as a special favor which should lead me to accept an equivalent reduction in the buy-in price for my previous car.

My delivery is at the end of this month. They offered my a 30% discount as Doris does not come with navigation now. If i want the software later, i have to pay for it. I am not happy with this experience.

UK dealers have behaved very fairly and are still giving 100 percent discount and so they should. I suspect there may be some profiteering over the pond:rolleyes:

Hey guys - this is straight from the factory, for North American clients:

------------------------------

"The Navigation and Bluetooth are not yet available for this option. The current option will include a Premium Meridian Surround Sound System. The cost of this adjusted item will be 70% of the original price for the option:

United States:
Original Retail: $6,850
Adjusted Retail: $4,795

Canada
Original Retail: $7,449
Adjusted Retail: $5,215

*Please note that once the Navigation and Bluetooth become available then we will provide the software update free of charge to all existing customers.

But what about everything else like the onboard hard drive? the wireless music syncing? the email reading?

"The IRIS option gives you a significant update to the 12c's media system. You can use voice-control to access an advanced navigation system while driving. The hard drive is increased to 80GB, allowing you to store up to 10,000 tracks. Additional features include a picture and video viewer and email.

The upgrade also gives your 12C WLAN connectivity, allowing you to transfer tracks and files remotely to your 12C from your laptop, or home or office computer when the car is parked within range."

Taken directly off the Mclaren configurator on the main website, I expect them to come through with all these features and not just bluetooth and navigation otherwise the 30% refund I got is complete BS.

I never had a choice in my spec of Doris, so didn't bother reading through all the details. I wonder if all that will materialize. Plus, there's no mention of all the nav goodies. Hopefully it's not all just pie in the sky.

If I had a garage door opener and satellite radio built in I would be very happy.

I just miss bluetooth and satnav. I couldn't give a toss about anything else. But since I, and the rest of you (less those of you from England), have paid for it, I really do care about getting everything that was promised. But I'm in no rush. Get it right, then upload the file, and I'll be happy.
