Hey all,

Coming back from my 12C road test I just reviewed the footage I took with my new Dash Cam. I was surprised at the clarity of the image.

You can see a short clip here:

I bought the camera in Hong Kong for the equivalent of $135 CAD ($100 cheaper than the Canadian website suggested price before taxes)

Details here:

I recognize the roads and the car, you were coming off of Hwy 407 exiting onto Hwy 27 and then heading north. The car you drove was different from the model I had test driven, mine was a black in colour with the iron bakes which was recently sold. By the way nice camera footage, which model of camera was used? I'm getting ready to purchase another 2 Sony HDRAS10 cameras, within the next week or so. So I'll have a total of 3 cameras, rear, front and either interior, low ground or for that matter exhaust footage. better more then not enough. ??? Cheers.....??

Nice footage OP

Extremeride, will you capture some exhaust flame please?

I'm looking for a wireless camera I can use more for security than the above purpose. Any ideas?

Right on the money extremeride. You know your way around that part of the woods!

The camera I had was a DOD LS300W Super High Definition. It uses Wide Dynamic Range to get great shots even at night. I haven't tested it in darkness yet but the footage I saw in the shop where I bought it was very good.

Unfortunately it's my son who's using the Sony, Santa got him the unit last Christmas. He seems to be extremely please with the unit and it's capabilities to perform to his liking. I find this little gem more conducive for recording outside of the vehicle due to is shape and size.

Now that I've seen yours and the fact that it has a built in sensor for recording potential mishaps, I may need one of these for inside the car. The image quality on your unit is superb, and even though the footage was short I did enjoyed it, good job Michel. Cheers....??

I have been using a portable dash camera that operates like a 'black box'.
The sleek and unobtrusive device operates when the car is driven and parked (motion/impact detection activation). I installed it mainly as a personal security feature for better assurance and evidence gathering in case of accidents and insurance protection.

The latest model comes with a wireless feature that may interest you.;)

Installation is easy since it is very light and power source can be tapped from the in-cabin 12v power source located under the center console near the cup holders.

It cost just over USD400 depending on which model you desire.;)

Currency conversion USD1 = approximately SGD1.24 at this point in time.

FAQ in the following link:

So RC33, what's your opinion on this product, is it as good as they make it out to be. Have you had a situation involving a car approaching or tapping your car, if so how well did it perform. Is the unit easy to setup and conceal, how do you prevent theft of the actual unit which is in your car. Cheers.....??

You need to turn your ISG to the minimum setting. Really creates a bad resonance. You are right though, the camera clarity is excellent. Hope to see more videos.

I agree with you Mark, the ISG setting affected the quality of the sound. I figured that when I have the car and have some cool video, I can always add music to the soundtrack. Hehe.

The product's main function started off as a car's personal CCTV system but the newer model features additional interesting up to date functions that appeal to growing needs. There are numerous similar products being offered but BLACKVUE has been touted as the most ideal as recommended by several luxury marque dealerships from where I come from.

I believe the main unit is fairly easy to install and set up, it's the concealment of the wiring around the roof, 'A' pillar and dashboard that requires more effort. The installation is performed by the product dealers as part of the sales package. Instructions are fairly clear and should be easy for internet savvy consumers.;)

The product is as good as advertised. The unit is less conspicuous than other competing products hence not so obvious to pedestrians. I don't think one can prevent theft of the actual unit if the intruder really decides to commit a burglary or vandalize your car.
