Carbon fibre parts from Chinese manufacturers

Hi team, I’m sure this question has been posed several times, but the most recent I read was almost 5 years ago and I’m hoping there is more info and better options out there.
I’m wanting to add carbon fibre to my 2016 650S Coupe. It currently has little to none. As you can imagine going through OEM McLaren for these can quickly see me forking out tens of thousands of dollars…alternatively me waiting for someone else’s misfortune and subsequent wrecking of a 650. (Or 12C for interior) could be a very long wait.

just wanting to weigh up my options, I’ve seen aliexpress (CCS design store) come in very reasonable and looking great…but firstly, it aliexpress and secondly I’m aware many of the images used are not of their product but actual OEM products. I’ve also read that McLarenbits is ok (and also relatively reasonably priced). Macarbon has also been mentioned, although slightly more expensive again.

I would greatly appreciate anyone’s real life experience with any of these manufacturers (or any others that you’d recommend)…alternatively if anyone know of a full interior carbon fibre package available, please also let me know.

Yes, fully agree. I’m sure I’m in the minority, but I also think carbon bits are really quite pretentious. They don’t significantly add to the driving experience, which is what McLaren are about. They only make one nervous about them getting damaged. 😉

@Adam G At the risk of going "too deep" or wading into "global political waters," as a denizen of a Western democracy (U.S. in my case), I have a hard time rationalizing any support for China or Chinese businesses. So you don't get the wrong idea, I come from decades of Big Corporate, but have felt and acted this way for at least 20 years. I don't blame Clinton for supporting China's admission into the WTO, but assumptions backing that decision haven't panned out. Maybe some name brand itty bit that is made in China slips through my purchasing process, but not multi-thousand dollar discretionary purchases.

And in the end, what will you have? An English supercar marred with a bunch of perhaps counterfeit--or certainly aftermarket--Chinese parts.

Lastly, there was a white 12c on BaT that sold recently that had very little carbon and was shockingly magnificent. It sold for a significant premium.

I had a mixed experience having upgraded fenders, hood, and rear diffuser with aftermarket CF.

They don't fit like OEM parts and usually require some modification or tweaking to get them to fit properly so that your panel gaps don't look dodgy.

You also need to clear coat them properly so they don't fade/crack/turn yellow.
