I'm considering buying a 2014 12C. The dealer that has been servicing said current owner elected to not have a transmission leak addressed at that last service ($2,476). They suspect it is the dual clutch seal. How concerned would you be?

Depends on how much the car is being sold for. It can be repaired. Box needs to be opened up and seal changed, or you can just bolt up the leak from the small hole. Its been done before and works a charm. I personally wouldnt let it put me off, because after all im a mechanic but it isnt ideal lets be honest, but as far as the functional aspect of the box it wont effect anything depending on how bad the leak is. Are they sure its coming from the breathing holes at the bottom of the box or is the leak coming from the breathers at the top of the box, sometimes when the gearboxes have been serviced and the clutch fluid overfilled, it pisses out of the breathers causing a real mess and can lead to something that looks like a leak when actually it isnt.

Get Sean or Kevin on this, not a useless dealer. I recently had my gearbox under tray off, the bottom of my box was wet, It was only the breather doing its job because the dealer probably used too much clutch fluid hence its coming out of the breather. I cleaned it up and nothing since.

Good to pass on it. Something not right. You could have bought it, then immediately ship to the McMedics for repair.
But here, through the dealer, you may have been looking at the "need a new transmission" route that dealers often take for a leak, when they diagnose an internal gasket failure.

I passed when the seller was unwilling to have it fixed.
There is a great 12C (the most reliable 12C possibly) for sale curently at a great price.
