After driving the Chiron in Portugal by myself and as a Co-Pilot with Andy Wallace I have to admit this Car is currently on a higher Performance Level than 918, P1 or LaF. Part of the Magic: there is no wheelspin whatsoever. Steering is Magic and the Engine Makes a wonderful Rich Sound. I'm deeply impressed. The attention to Details is unbelievable.

dude, the p1/918/laf couldn't keep up with a veyron, much less a chiron....the ignorance on BUGATTI cars is epic....It is beyond your imagination....

Have you tried to do a straight line race against a veyron?

just using my ass, an informed opinion and adjusting slightly for the fact that the Veyron is a decade older than the new hyper cars...Veyron created the category.

It was a fair race. Separately, in half mile from standing position, the veyron was doing 169 to 172. I reached a high of 179.7.

Your original posting was that veyron would beat p1/918/laferrari.

that video is meaningless. need 2 pro drivers...p1 is awfully fast but so is Veyron, and it doesn't look like the Veyron driver keeps it floored??. and again the Veyron is a classic car at this point so cut it a few feet slack...let's look around for acceleration times on the internet, shall we? is that your P1? MSO striping?
Just arrived in Paris for a morning meeting will be at Molsheim factory by late lunch. Expect to see what's cooking with the advance models. Should be at Ehra- Lessien test track next morning then to AMG,

That will be awesome, please report back!
I think this needs a separate record breaking thread. I knew VW group has been preparing and going to try by end of summer. Amazing how stable the car was when I drove it. Over 30 years ago I had a car that seemed to start lifting on the salt flats and had to shut down. At that time I said to myself never again!

Wonder if they have enough to hit 400km /hr. Close to 311 mph.

But this record car has had some work done, according to Top Gear. The folks at Dallara, who make its chassis, removed the rear wing and air brake for a static unit with more downforce. It is longer and lower overall. The exhaust was modified and moved as well. Additionally, passenger seat was removed and a roll cage was fitted

Car and Driver wondered that too, and it turns out this thing used a custom set of Michelin Pilot Cup 2 tires for the job. Here’s what driver Wallace told the magazine
“Inside the tires you’ve got these thin metal strands that go radially around the edge and which are sort of equidistant from each other,” Wallace explained, when C/D spoke to him after the record run. “On quite a lot of tires there are one or two spots where these strands touch. It’s not normally a problem, certainly not at the mandated speed limit, but when you start to go really fast with the huge gravitational force it’s possible to get movement there, and temperature.”

Some work done is a bit of an understatement I think...!

but all the same, it's a remarkable achievement. Although I personally don't care much for the Chiron/Veyron as a car, there's no doubt the engineering quality of the things is impeccably good.

You mean 500kph.
Yes thanks for correcting me. I was in a 512 Boxer last night and the speedo has a 330 km/hr and I think that was on my mind. At that speed the tires have to be customized. Michelin in France makes small batches of high speed tires but nothing rated for these speeds.
