You're thinking of McLarenEPA/Diagnostics, its a result of right to repair law legislation. It only does keys and can flash modules.

yep its WPF/.Net, MDS/McLarenEPA/Diagcode is all WPF. but yes you could do it with a UDS logger and interactive access to the any tool. There is people on here that have MDS and so I asked but they dont like sharing... I like sharing.

Possibly interested, can you tell me if the diagcode software relies in any way on the mclaren service/mds and if so are you complying with their ULA? Specifically are you proxing security access tokens and reusing your MDS access you have?

I've written some tools for the tuner market and one thing I think we can all take heart in is that, once someone figures it out, everyone will copy it and this tends to drive costs down.

I hated being replicated for a fraction of the price but am rooting for the same to happen here

It's not like you're inventing new technology here, you're simply emulating the original tool. Everybody does the same thing and if you're not you're doing it wrong. Check out my other thread for alternatives

We need a hacked clone of the factory tool (normally provided by an enterprising Chinese engineer with no intelectual property rights restrictions). Regretfully, this amounts to rooting for theft which I have a hard time doing.

This is a bad strategy and not feasible even for the Chinese

The underlaying issue is one and the same, it's cheaper to do it at a dealer.

You also need to describe your services better. Can you post the other material you're providing with the tool?
