Attending the 2012 F1 USGP in Austin, Texas - USA (Nov 16-18)?

Anyone here planning to attend the 2012 F1 USGP in Austin, November 16-18?

If-so, let's coordinate a meet-&-greet (if time permitting)...

Track progress is going well, the FIA certification went w/o a hitch the other day. The race may actually be rather climactic w/ how (relatively) close the drivers & constructors standings may be by then, considering the revisions/changes to some of the front-runners.

I'll be there! Sitting in Turn 12. Austin is my home town so let me know if you need any suggestions on things to do or see.

Mr and Mrs Mongrel are up here already, spent today watching practice and then about five minutes of the 458 challenge practice (yawn). We're with the McLaren folk at the turn 1/2 hospitality suite. I don't know what the drivers are saying about the track but to me it looks absolutely epic! Turn one is at the end of a steep uphill run and it flattens off just before the very tight left hand hairpin. Lots of drivers today were braking on the uphill part then locking up as they crested into the turn and got a bit of negative G as the grade dropped off. However, by the end of practice the first tier guys all had it down perfectly, although it will be interesting to watch this turn on the first lap when everyone is bunched up from the start....
Someone said that the back straight is the longest in F1?
Park Place are talikng about organising a track day here - can't wait!

Sounds like a lot of fun, Tex! On the tv they were saying the surface was like ice at the start, maybe it needs to rubber in. Will they let you park your 12C in pit lane with the ignition running - the boys seem to need a backup car these days and I'm sure your cars are quicker than the Marussia and HRT at least! :)

Don't talk about parking here, its a total zoo! We drove today but will be doing shuttles tomorrow and Sunday. We actually kept getting re- directed today when trying to park until one of the " parking specialists" said "give me $20 and you can park right here" , which was right in front of the main entrance! A deal was quickly made, so for at least today we got a spot, but with 125,000 expected, its going to get ugly!

A very lively scene in/around town. Only going to get even more active & festive!

Here's a lovely example in downtown: Carbon Black Metallic finish w/ Saddle Tan interior...

Noted an event valeted Volcano Orange example w/ Super-light wheels & Stealth accents near 4th St towards Warehouse District of West 6th St. A head-turner, to say the least!

Race'on...

The black car in the pic was on display at the McLaren reception last night. Lots of McL high-ups there, plus other celebs such as Michael Johnson the Olympic sprinter. He was nice enough to put up with posing next to my wife for a photo
