I think cars nowadays rely less on the entertainment system because your phone pretty much has taken over so many functions its pretty useless. The key issue is that they've moved backwards on the styling side. Even jaguar's f type updated with a sleeker headlight design from the larger headlights from the preupdated version... Aston instead went the other way by making the headlights bigger and less sleek than the current vantage? I honestly dont know what they are thinking...Thank god I heard they finally dumped the Mercedes’ 1995 entertainment system.

They were both owned by Ford in the late 90s to early 2000s so that might also lend to some of the styling similarities. But as both are each individually owned brands, this bug eyed "facelift" is actually for the worst... Like any good plastic surgeon would tell you, you do a facelift when you need it not because its time lol.Astons have a long history of looking like Jaguars, and vice versa. It seems to have started with the DB7. My father was Production Manager on the Jaguar XJ220 at TWR Jaguar's facility in Banbury, back in the '80s, before being head-hunted by Ron Dennis to be Production Manager on the F1. They were building Aston Martin DB7s at the same site as the XJ220, too:

The Jaguar that became an Aston Martin
How one of Aston Martin’s most iconic modern cars came to be, via Jaguar You may know the story of the Jaguar that was turned into a Porsche and went on to win Le Mans not once, but twice in succession. If not, the tale of how a tub of designed by Tom Walkinshaw Racing […]www.motorsportmagazine.com
A great picture that sums up their design direction. Unfortunately, anytime you see these cars on the road, it means it's almost ready for production... I suspect the new Vantage will look amazingly similar to the Jag F type and the DB12 front end. That to me mushes the two models even closer together and does nothing but confuse people further, especially when they now all use the same AMG v8.... 🤷♂️ 🤦♂️ I mean, two front-engine two-seaters in their line up.. How will they market it now given there is no distinction on powertrain other than output? It just doesn't make sense...So, the Jaguar f-type gets a facelift, from left to right in the photo. Meanwhile, the Aston effectively gets a facedrop, from right to left. One of my favourite expressions: "history. . .there's no future in it!" The right side looks purposeful, focused and aggressive. The left side looks surprised and apologetic, to my eye. If the new Aston design isn't camouflage, it's a no from me.
