-New hypercar codenamed Project ‘003’.
-Third hypercar to be created by Aston Martin.
-Revolutionary new mid-engined hypercar V6 features technology showcased in the Aston Martin Valkyrie.
-Arriving to market in late 2021.
-Production strictly limited to 500 coupe examples globally.

20 September 2018, Gaydon: Aston Martin’s next step into the mid-engined hypercar market has been confirmed with the release of the first official details of Project ‘003’.

Project ‘003’ is the third hypercar to be developed by Aston Martin following the Aston Martin Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR Pro (formerly ‘001’ and ‘002’), 003 has its DNA deeply rooted in concepts and technology currently being developed for those revolutionary road and track-only machines.

Project ‘003’ will be built around a lightweight structure and powered by a turbocharged petrol-electric hybrid engine. Combined with active aerodynamics for outstanding levels of downforce in a road-legal car, active suspension systems providing next-level precision, control and driver connection like the Aston Martin Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR Pro, Project ‘003’ will possess class leading dynamics on both road and track.

While this exceptional breadth of performance is of paramount importance, Project ‘003’ is also being designed and engineered to offer more practical concessions to road use, including space for luggage. Fully homologated and available in all markets in both left and right-hand drive, production will be limited to 500 coupe examples globally, with the first cars arriving to market in late 2021.

Aston Martin Lagonda President and Group Chief Executive, Andy Palmer, said: “It was always the intention for the Aston Martin Valkyrie to be a once-in-a lifetime project, however, it was also vital to us that Valkyrie would create a legacy: a direct descendent that would also set new standards within its own area of the hypercar market, creating a bloodline of highly specialised, limited production machines that can exist in parallel with Aston Martin’s series production models. I’m thrilled to announce that this car is the Project ‘003’, and our next step into a dynamic and exacting arena.”

So is this going to be another unobtainable $1M+ cars? Honestly, I'm pretty sick of all these super limited, super expensive cars. It's not impressive to build an amazing car when your budget is millions of dollars.

AM will probably be going through bankruptcy in the next 5-10 years. Exotic SUVs have thus far proved to be far from a smash-hit. Bentley couldn't sell Bentaygas if the world depended on it.

I test drove a Bentayaga for the wife.. it was quick for its size.. not what you would call nimble though. The dealer was willing to let me take it away for a day or two, though I declined (considering it was a $200K+ SUV I was surprised since I’d not bought anything from this particular dealer before). I guess they probably had a hard time selling it maybe. To my knowledge, I’ve never seen one on the road.

We ended up custom spec’ing a Macan Turbo with performance package instead. Took 9 months to build, but is much more fun (3.7s to 60, rides like a car, and has PDK ), and only cost $120K 😉

Thanks!

Z.

I am still not really getting it how easy it suddenly is to sell these 1m+ cars ... 15y ago MB and Porsche were struggling to sell the SLR and CGT which were half that price and the sales were stretched over several years ... now there seems to be a market for 1000 1m+ cars a year ...

gran turismo concept ? DP100

I don't see how they could call a concept, which probably did not even have an engine or transaxle, a "hypercar", or any other kind of car. It's a concept or mock-up of a car.
I suspect that they meant the Vulcan, on the basis that its engine might have been set far enough back that its weight distribution was 50-50 or slightly biased towards the rear. The only snag is that, regardless of weight distribution, the Vulcan is not mid-engined, it's front-engined.

Part of it is the residue of quantitative easing, part the fact that there are many more very wealthy people than there were 15 years ago and a larger % of them are middle-aged or younger, and part what happens when you have a speculative bubble which for some period of time will be self-fulfilling.

You could be right as to what they might have meant, but for them to reference the Valkyrie AMR Pro as a different hypercar (as opposed to a variant of the original car) would be just sophistry. It would be the same as McLaren's saying that the Senna is the third Ultimate Series car, and Speedtail the fourth, because they are counting the P1 GTR as a fundamentally different model from the P1.

Aston Martin has released a first glimpse at its newest hypercar project, the vehicle that’ll (probably) be Daniel Craig’s next on-screen whip.

For now it’s flying stealthily under the codename Project ‘003,’ which has a very ‘Her Majesty’s Secret Service’ vibe, as did the former two hypercar projects, 001 and 002, which evolved into the Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR Pro.

But the name actually denotes the fact this is the esteemed British marque’s third take on a hypercar.

According to the Aussie outlet Drive, ‘Valhalla’ has been surfaced as a potential actual name by the brand.

Regardless, the 003 is still very much shrouded in mystery – intentionally, as you can tell by the single, darkened image of the rear end the company released – but we are privy to a few details, though none of them new.

Still find it amazing non the less that AM has the guts to take the risk to sell about 700 cars in the P1+ and much higher price range within the next 4 years ... its really remarkable how all this has developed

My understanding is that all the cars are already spoken for. I signed my agreement last summer.

I know ... still AM has never done more than 77 cars of this caliber at once ... now they run 4 projects more or less parallel: this, the Valkyrie, the AMR Pro and that very limited 10m USD thing which nearly no one knows how it will even look ...

For "that very limited 10m USD thing which nearly no one knows how it will even look"

Talk to you about the DBS GT Zagato?
