Well at least this one isn't a tesco value AMG GT like the v8 Vantage is

Well... you do know the DB12 will be powered by AMG v8TT like the Vahalla as well? So, in that sense, they are all becoming tesco value cars? lol
Some rumors about the DB12.
  • It will only be available with a new V8 from AMG.
  • Just under 700hp and massive torque.
  • £185k base price.
  • A dual screen infotainment system, developed in-house by Aston Martin, bespoke and entirely new.
  • The big return to the cascading center console.

What a fucking let down

Only reason I call the am v8 vantage a tesco value amg gt is because it has the engine below the one found in the gt

Well. the difference between M177 that the Aston has and the M178 engine AMG GT has is wet sump vs dry sump and twin scroll.. same block internals so both engines can take big power. AM is generally not a track machine so wet sump should be fine. Most likely Vahalla will have the M178 but nevertheless still an AMG engine. Tobias is a big fan of AMG...lol. But to be fair, any of the M177 on up series v8TT makes gobs of reliable power and are actually really good power dense engines over AM's old v12 TT with less weight.

I was told that the Valhalla engine is based on the AMG, but that much of it will be modified/bespoke from what's in the AMG GT. Take that for what it's worth, but that's what they said to me at Monterey last fall.

Well, Lamborghini touted their Revuelto v12 as new but its still based on the Aventador engine to a certain extent... Its just marketing and wording in how much of it is new or bespoke. The AMG engine block is pretty stout stock which safely can do 800+ hp. Changing or modifying if only to work better as hybrid might be the only thing unique about it. If they are saying modifying the engine or its internals when the stock internals are already forged means its really just marketing.... Up til now, AM engines have been pretty underwhelming because a. Their one V12 TT has been tuned in various hp trims but really its just the one engine with different programming... b. Their AMG v8TT is the one engine for its DB11 and soon to be 12 along with their Vantage, DBX and 707X which with small changes have also different hp. So, in other words, as since the V12 is now dead, AM only has one AMG engine in various guises powering their entire lineup... That type of powerplant line up is far from being the British Ferrari they want to be...

At the end of the day if the Valhalla produces the power and the sound I want, that’s all I care about. Visually, I think it’s absolutely stunning. Latest I heard is that depositors are going to get to configure their cars at the end of the year now. I was told mid year at Monterey last fall, so it seem they are slipping the schedule a bit…

Well if you are looking for sound and power, the Lambo Revuelto will sound better and with 1000k hp. There is only so much you can do with a V8TT sound vs a high revving V12.

Too bad because I think the Revuelto is hideous.

Well, its either that or get the Valkyrie since its essentially a Redbull developed car with Cosworth V12 and pretty much the only thing AM is the badge and the funding. V8TT I think Mclarens and its v8TT replacement hybrid will be a better machine than the Valhalla. But nothing will beat a V12 sound...

It may still run the old v12TT... AM V12 in service til 2026 so most likely... Or they have the DB12 with v8 and the new DBS with v12... They cant figure things out too well over there right now.. .
It’s called the DB12 and only has a V8?
Ironic given that they went from DB7 to DB9 so that nobody would think the DB8 was only a V8!
