I'm all about trying to figure a way to get it covered but the truth is that looks like its been leaking for a long time. in fact, it looks like all the fluid has leaked out and that's just been accumulating dirt forever. Best way here is to get the car in the air and clean that area really good with degreaser and pressure washer. then see if any more fluid comes out after several miles of use. If nothing else, at least have it clean for when you get it replaced.
You can pick up a good used one and pay somewhere around $600 labor to replace it and be done with it. I know you need a right side but they are on there. just keep looking
