Mclarens seem to be the car of chice for the former crypto bros.
well cool ones are way easier to get than Porsche GT and Ferrari VS ... and the ppl driving McL seem to be younger ...

btw. I thought again about ppl I know who got a new 720s ... there is really not a single one where the household did not have 4-5 cars at least and that is of at least 50-60 ppl where I know which other cars they have ...

All my friends who own McLarens have 5-6 cars.

I guess I don’t have facts beyond the observation that urban CA / NY real estate puts a 6 car garage out of reach even for folks who can trivially afford a 720. If I could afford a 6 car garage around here, I’d be driving a P1.
Not every car is parked in a garage. Not every car is at the primary residence. Not saying you aren’t correct, my sample is only my immediate circle of friends in Scottsdale.

I have no idea, really. Just that there are a ton of 720s, over 7000 spiders. there’s a reason why used prices have so much depreciation and it’s not because these cars are difficult to obtain. And there are a ton of folks rocking quarter million dollar or more cars across all marques who could easily reach into Mac. Are most macs really distributed predominantly to folks with large garages ? Curious.

I have a 3 car garage. And 3 cars. I had my 720 coupe and spider new. I thought about a true off roader/overland vehicle. But with kids and other hobbies and used car prices. It’s an afterthought. I’ve had more cars. But things just sit and get in the way.
I think it just depends on the hobby level of car person

people buy cars for a lot of different reasons . They can give you 6 different reasons and all of them are true . However, they can be weighted quite differently and one reason can be 80% of the entire decision making process .

Doors. Doors that go up. Stupid dihedral doors. That’s like 30% for me.

I agree with this. For most of us, all we can 'base' it on is who WE know and who we hang out with. I personally don't know a Mac owner who has less than 4 cars...and I know LOTS of owners...so yes, the vast majority own 5 cars or more. That's not saying it's 'normal,' but I'd be willing to wager that 51% of Mac owners (most) own 4-5 cars or MORE...Obviously there are always exceptions, but when you're talking about $200k to $500K+ cars, the people buying them NEW are generally not broke. 90% of the owners I know paid cash. The used market changes some of the dynamics...but the new car market for these cars is generally filled with VERY successful people. Lending to the original comment about 5 cars...

The good news is that, when production resumes in January, the correct fully machined nuts will be used. Problem resolved.

Hard to fault McLaren here. The supplier proffered validations of the cold formed nuts. Thus, McLaren's use of these nuts was reasonable (and necessary given the supply issues).

Par for the course with a first year car that is completely new from the ground up.

Lots were recalled, but that doesn’t make the Artura’s issues any better or less “potentially” dangerous.

164 cars (virtually all of them sitting in port not yet delivered) is a lot less “potentially” dangerous than having millions of Takata airbags that can spontaneously self deploy with no warning. Yes- fuel leaks are bad but this is one bad nut that will be fixed. It’s no big deal.

We can disagree and move on from this. All good.
