Hmmm. I like the idea of a name, not a number. But Artura is the name of the nice Mexican fellow who did my tile.

I’m 65 and love the theatre of ICE, especially NA.

But I see it’s time for McLaren to make this move. Very interested to see just how they set this up. Not going to be like your accountant’s hybrid SUV.

I want a button with a rocketship on it.

Question is, will we trade the cars we have for this car.

Carplay is huge for some of us, but is it wireless like my daily Honda Civic Si?

Over-the-air software updates...that seems like it will be huge. Does Apple CarPlay allow Waze to show on the IRIS screen?

I’m sure it will. Carplay is huge for some of us, but is it wireless like my daily Honda Civic Si? Just get in and Waze traffic comes right up on the screen, nothing needs to be hooked up. Can rig a wireless charger in the console and it’s 2022.

People get so fixated on a car being a fraction of a second ”better” than something else. Heck it’s still outrageous fast unless we are truly racing. I hardly do that any more.

Makes me think of saying my girl is better in bed than yours. It’s sex either way, a good way to spend time. And if you are decently endowed all should be happy.

If I go from our 720 to an Artura will I be suffering from being late everywhere I go?

yes it does. But more importantly, Apple Maps in the next is is adding waze report cop and road hazard features, and if it wORKS as well as waze, I will be dumping waze.
I guess it comes to how popular the nav version is. With WAZE I feel like I am being supported by lots of Wazers around giving us all info.

I’ve never had a vehicle with any sort of electrification of the drive train. Heck, my first cars had roll up windows and no AC.

So with the Artura will it be customary to plug it in pretty much every time you get home or another destination if possible? Most of us already plug in to maintain the battery, I’d assume that would be achieved by just the one plug in.

Will we need a charging station at home then?

I had wondered if there would be any sort of regenerative braking. Will this performance and lightweight oriented approach do that?
Wonder if Artura has this GPS nose lift ....
Then we could have threads about where my car decided to lift.

Ford GT has this as well I believe. The GPS lift, not the thread

Attended a reveal at McLaren of Charlotte last evening. Nice event, facility, people. A lot to like about this car. Despite our coaxing we did not hear it fire up, but had lots of time to check it out inside and out. As well as quite a few other McLaren.

@Exhilr8n! Is there a photo missing? 😅
Well, I tried to post a brief video of the unveil but could not get it to upload. I do not have a good picture of the car itself, there were folks around and not real comfortable putting up pics of people I don’t know. But here’s something.

I’m looking forward to a test drive, see just how different the experience is. Trade the 720 for one? Going to be a big ask but not out of the question.
It’s like when on track. A big part of it is keeping eyes up, focusing on where we are going. The terms ”Sports Series” and “Super Series” are passé. They are calling the GT the entry level, and the other street cars are “Supercars”. Who ouside Surrey knows but it looks like there will be two Supercars, the Artura and whatever they will call the 720 replacement. Anything above that is in the million plus range, narrower audience.

I see design cues in the Artura from the Elva. Predictions of the 720 replacement in a couple years?

Of course many will resist looking ahead, it’s been very comfortable where we have been. But there are brand new experiences to be had.
The car I tried on (the green one on US East coast) felt comfortable enough. Was able to do the axis rotation. But can’t really tell until at least 30 minutes of driving.
I don't follow all that stuff, so I don't have an opinion on that...all I know is that I won't be able to see this car
in the metal for 2 more weeks, and when I do, as a very serious buyer, they're not even going to let me drive
the doggone thing. Silly!

It does feel a tiny bit insulting, like "Daddy's going to let me sit in his new car, but only in the garage..."
Even the dealers can’t drive the two debut models in the US now, they are here just to get the ball rolling with publicity.

I too am serious to have one in the garage, but even the many reviewers out there have had no opportunity to drive an Artura. Patience.

Outsourced or McEmployee? Someone who put the Artura configurator together has a sense of humor...
Working zoomed-in on my interior spec, I noticed the time on the dash as 1620 hours: a/k/a 4:20 o_O:unsure:

Yeah, who cares about the supposed numbers? Young boys I guess. If you get there late in this car, it ain’t the car’s fault.

A whole new issue, will be interesting to see how this develops. Will such tech spread to mainstream cars? There will have to be some sort of intercompatibility.

I bet a large percentage of those who purchase new Arturas will trade cars before tire replacement comes up. Will be more of an issue for the second hand buyers.
That ought to squeeze it to the ground just fine.
