Well since my car was one of the ones sent back for remanufacturing, my dealership let me take their demo car (unit 173) home for the weekend to drive. It is almost the exact spec that I had ordered - Plateaux Grey, but this unit has the black interior with orange piping and black wheels with orange calipers vs mine the Red Tech-Lux with Titanium color wheels and black calipers.

I've driven the car for about 2.5 hours now and my impressions from before are confirmed

1)build quality appears to be excellent. No creaks or groans or signs of any slop

2)paint and interior finish is commiserate with this price level if not better

3)chassis is unflappable - I drove over rough Houston roads and some serpentine highway sections and the car sticks like glue and feels exceptionally solid. It handles this level of power without any issue and feels like it could even handle another 100hp

4)handling and steering weight and feedback is beyond my stock 992TTS, my 997TT with modified suspension. In track mode it approaches my 944 turbo track car with Motons and solid bushings. It almost feels like a manual rack

5)drivetrain is also flawless from what I can tell. The torque fill is amazing. It approaches the instant response of my old E55 with supercharged 5.5L - there is NO lag and the acceleration is like a catapult. Transitions from EV to Comfort to Sport are seamless. Its plenty fast stock and I can only imagine what M-Engineering can do with a ECU flash.

6)aural factor - the engine noise and exhaust note are really really good. This will be one of the few times I leave the exhaust alone

After a bit more driving today I have to say this car is a "must have". It is every bit a daily driver in good weather as a 911. I cannot say I would trust it as much an an AWD TTS, but as far as a commuter it is not fussy and with great controls and visibility I have no reservations. The dry grip is amazing on the stock PZeros, and the acceleration is as good if not better than my 750hp 997 turbo.

The car did throw a CE light with code U1822 which did not seem to affect drivability at all. I cleared it with a scan tool and it did not come back

What was the code?
could not find a cross reference for Mclaren's designation for "U1822"

FWIW
Does McLaren use different codes than standard OBD2 systems?

That’s what I was wondering. When I searched it could be crank sensor, could be O2.
@eclou - can you post some pictures of this car? I ordered the Plateau grey and would like to see how it looks on the car...

@eclou - thank you so much for posting those! Such a nice color!
It really is a great color that‘s hard to photograph well. It changes in different lighting conditions. Looks fantastic at night as well.

I have to sadly turn the car back in today. I have to say I was disappointed by the lack of delivery and was considering passing on my remanufacture slot. At this point after driving for 1.5 days I am very surprised to say “THE ARTURA IS WORTH THE WAIT!!”

It's very nice to hear that you feel this way - it makes me feel better about my order.

Curious about what kind of info you all usually get about your build during the process. Do you get notification that it started, or it's completed, or any kind of status updates about the production? For example, some of you knew your VIN, when did you get that? Also, have any of you made changes during or even prior to the production? Like changing the wheels or color of anything? I am really interested in what you know and when you know it about your car orders.
I got a order sped sheet from the dealer and also an excel list of the units they ordered which showed the dates of order and expected completion dates with the VIN#’s. The demo I drove was only completed 1 week before my order but had to have the recall campaigns performed which took 2-4 weeks according to my dealer.

Ok - so you didn't get any progress updates along the way. So do you now have a new VIN and completion date? If so, what date are you now looking at for completion?
No one really knows what happens now. My dealership has no idea, their Mclaren rep has no idea. They have not been informed of any firm protocol. I was just told “maybe summertime”

And THIS is the problem. Be transparent.

How many Artura have been delivered? I have one rolling around In Philly. I have 1400 miles it. Since November.
Btw. The car gets better as it “breaks in”.
