I've put about 200miles on the Artura, including some good laps at the local track. The car runs great and drives really nice both in the city with traffic as well as on the track.

Two things to note:

While on the track I was able to push it to 150mph on the large straight but then when it was time to break I almost ran out of track. The brakes felt really weak and it caught me off-guard, but afterwards my friend reminded me that it has ceramic breaks and those need to be very well heated before they break good. I had done about 2-3 laps before the fast test and I guess I need to worry more about heating the breaks more. One of the reasons I never liked ceramic breaks.

In the evening I took the car out for dinner and when I started the car to come back I got this transmission error. I had to drive back home slowly and planned to take the car back to the dealership but the message was gone the next day and it's been gone since. I'll update with anything new on that regard.

you got it to 150mph before the bus stop?
The other thread's review does show braking power is severely lacking in the Artura. Wishful thinking that Mclaren can send an OTA update to fix it.

Thanks for your post. I've got an Artura arriving in a month, and I guess I'm just curious... is there supposed to be any "break in period" or should this beauty come ready to ignite on the track? I've gone through a string of performance cars from M3's and M5s to R8s and always adhered to the recommended break-in periods before tracking. My last 2020 Audi R8 Performance recommended 1,500 miles but I know a lot of that is just historical nonsense / liability reasons. I'm just surprised to hear you are lighting up the Artura 200 miles in and wondered if McLaren had any break-in policy that could void your warranty, etc. for not adhering.
There is no earthly way it takes 263 feet to stop from 70mph. Autocar is smoking crack. I’ve been in the car at Sonoma raceway

Congratulations, excited for you - will you change your Avatar to white Artura?

Before diamond’s edge since the track was clockwise that day, And there was a little more room for a late brake, or mistake.

Right. I'd be more willing to bet that Aston Martin will be solvent by the end of the year than that McLaren fitted under performing brakes on the Artura.

I was told by my dealer that there is no break in period for this cars. And given the delayed and potential problems for this cars I decided to go full on with the car and if anything bad brakes I’d still have a chance to claim it’s a lemon and return it.
So far I absolutely love the car. Other than the transmission message that I got for that one night everything has been perfect. Fingers crosssed

Ok, thanks and good to know. Oddly enough, a similar thing happened to me on the 2020 R8 with a transmission warning after going hard on the track. Turning the car on and off cleared it, but I took it back into Audi service and the first thing they did was grill me on adherence to the break in period (which I actually did adhere to). Haha. Just didn't want to have that experience again. Can't wait to get the Artura here!

If you talk to just about every mechanic, sales person; they'll all tell you that you can hit the track right as soon as the car is delivered. (mclaren pure cars, cars that the factory brings for demo laps/test drives at tracks have delivery miles on them (I've seen it many, many times).

Nothing wrong with adhering to the break in from the owners manual though.

biggest chuckle I got was from Lambo owner's manual. it tells you to break in new tires for 350 miles and to not do performance driving until they reach that many miles (apparently; optimal grip is achieved when the tires have 350 miles on them).

I thought every McLaren built goes to the dyno to check for performance?
