What! You have driven your 296 already…😇
no, but i have seen production cars on being driven.
the 296GTB was launched in June 2021, and the spider is already launched as well.
while the Artura was launched in late 2020 right?
i'm not in love with this whole trend of launching a car years before it is in customer hands, whether that delay is deliberate as in Ferraris case or less deliberate as in the Arturas cas

I think this was a case of McLaren doing the right thing. Why put something out that isn’t ready...and it gave them 1 more year to tweak it and see what their competition is up to. Trust me people will forget about the wait time, IF the car is great and I think it will be. Besides what else in the $235-$300k market will compete with this? Not a Huracan. GT3’s are selling for $100k+ over MSRP...Point is...You can get one for MSRP...The wait will not likely hurt or diminish McLaren...but if they launched a car that wasn’t ready...that would be a disaster.

What IF this is right on the heels of a 296 for way less money and 150hp less as well? Sure Ferrari will sell all of them because they are Ferrari but it’ll also make McLaren shine even brighter at the same time.

The only way this hurts McLaren is if the car isn’t brilliant...but I have a feeling it’s going to exceed expectations. They’ve yet to make a truly bad car...and most of them are downright excellent. Lots of people will find out in June in Texas...then magazine reviews will shortly follow etc...Expect it to be a triumph for the brand and make people more excited about the future 720 replacement (after the refresh of course).

totally agreed. would have been a disaster if they would have release it a year ago.

you should just tell them when you’re going to be driving the artura demo cars -:). Mac sf customers are going to be the first ones to do so in usa .

Lucky me ; I get to do with Mac sf and then a couple of weeks later with Mac Walnut Creek

Let us know how it compares to the other hybrid, the P1? McLaren chicago won’t have it yet though.

I’m curious as to this as well.
The P1 replacement and 720S replacement can’t have that much between them, performance wise, unless Mclaren really has some tricks up their sleeve. Tire tech already is what holds the 765/P1 back. Only so much power can be put to the ground at low speeds.

I think both will be spectacular.
Well, what if the P1 went retro. with a manual. And 3 seat layout. And truly limited output. Like the T50.

I just drove the new Maserati MP20. WOW!! very impressed! All new twin turbo V6 (non-hybrid), 620HP 538 TQ, all carbon tub, 3251 lbs. wet, rear wheel drive, and the car I drove was highly optioned with an MSRP of $ 272K.

MC20 is strong competition. I get on paper it's less compelling but people who own it/drive it seem to love it. And it looks amazing.

I was so impressed I actually tried to buy the car. They started asking $ 100K over MSRP and after some back and forth came down $ 50K. My offer was at MSRP so needless to say it didn't happen. It's a serious competitor to the Artura and attached photo of the car I test drove.

Y my local dealer asking $100k but def willing to take $75k over as well and I bet $50k would do it too but didn't even go there. vs Arturas easily avail at MSRP. But those looks wow....
Yes, wow does this car look stunning. It's serious competition from an aesthetic standpoint.
To my eye, it looks better than the Artura. I can't help thinking McLaren went in the wrong direction with the design. One of the comments I often get is that my car looks alien, and I think this applies to most McLarens. There Artura is a good looking car, but it looks much more generic/conventional than the 570 and 720.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but having seen and been inside both in my personal opinion - Exterior MC20 > Artura. Artura was still good though.
Interior was even, the Artura had FAR more headroom because I think you sit lower in it and the roof is a bit less flat; MC20 seat was a bit too high even at lowest point for my liking. The center screen in the Artura was so small, I can't see how Carplay can work on it, but we'll see, or does carplay go in the instrument cluster like in an R8?

did you have the seat all the way down? I'm 6'-5" and had a good 3" of headroom to spare. The lead designer for the MP20 is 6'-7" so a tall driver was considered. Leg room was also great and overall driving position is very much like McLaren.
IMHO, the Artura is MUCH better looking as compared to the MC20. I am not knocking the MC20 -- it is a great looking car. The MC20 has a more unique and distinctive look. But, the Artura is much sleeker, with more traditional supercar lines.

With greater HP, instant electric torque fill, and less weight, I hope and expect that the Artura will out perform the MC20. Apparently the MC20 is difficult to launch: 621-HP 2022 Maserati MC20 Hits 60 MPH in 3.2 Seconds . Maserati states "less than 2.8" to 60, but C&D's best was 3.2 (C&D achieved 2.8 in both the 911 GTS and Z51). Meanwhile, McLaren states 3.0 to 60 for the Artura, but it will surely be faster.

Strange. Maybe because the one I was in had the comfort seats as opposed to the racing shell seats, I don’t know. I definitely had it all the way down. Interesting though. Maybe it was just that configuration.

The comfort seats probably don't go as low as race seats. One of the reasons I want to switch to Senna seats is so that I can adjust the rear to the lowest adjustment point so there's more leg room than with the comfort seats.
