A few dealers currently have non-drivable sample Arturas in their showrooms. I saw one today. The aesthetic exceeded my expectations. In fact, upon seeing the car, I promptly placed my order. According to my dealer, tester cars will be available to drive during August, with initial deliveries during approximately September. Dealer says this timeline is supposedly firm and more reliable then prior forecasts. We shall see. Meanwhile, this is my configuration:

IMHO, the Artura is MUCH better looking as compared to the MC20. I am not knocking the MC20 -- it is a great looking car. The MC20 has a more unique and distinctive look. But, the Artura is much sleeker, with more traditional supercar lines.

With greater HP, instant electric torque fill, and less weight, I hope and expect that the Artura will out perform the MC20. Apparently the MC20 is difficult to launch: 621-HP 2022 Maserati MC20 Hits 60 MPH in 3.2 Seconds . Maserati states "less than 2.8" to 60, but C&D's best was 3.2 (C&D achieved 2.8 in both the 911 GTS and Z51). Meanwhile, McLaren states 3.0 to 60 for the Artura, but it will surely be faster.

that's not the problem. the "my dealer refuses to support a non-OEM tire" would be a problem and completely unrealistic.
The dealer must demonstrate that the non-OEM tire caused or contributed to the issue requiring repair. This is an easier hurdle with an ECU tune. I suspect it is much more difficult with a non-OEM tire in the same sizing as the OEM tires.

George Farquhar (VIP Relations Manager at McLaren Automotive): "Amazing day behind the wheel of the new McLaren Artura as we get ready to deliver the first customer cars. As our first V6 plug-in hybrid, it ushers in a whole new era of technology and is one of the most significant cars we’ve ever made. Congratulations to all those colleagues involved in getting us to this point. It’s an incredible car!" http://instagr.am/p/CewlTR2qkyr/

The general gist from the 3 or 4 I watched/read was that it's quiet and boring at lower speeds on the road and comes alive when pushing and on the track. That seems to me like close to the perfect recipe. No doubt there are future variations to come which will be lighter, more raw, and more track-focused, but that will be at the expense of daily road use performance.

I received the following e-mail from McLaren NA this morning (in response to my inquiry):

"We actually haven’t released a sale date at all yet but there are no current delays and we are continuing to build vehicles on schedule. We announced that the vehicles we were allowing journalist and customers to test drive now did not have the final software which led some journalist to report the vehicles were not ready. We only wanted to let those test driving the current cars know there may be imperfections that will be resolved with a software update prior to final customer delivery but it seems there was a little confusion on what was happening. Unless there are further supply chain constraints you should not experience any delays."

In summary, there is no sale date and, therefore, no delays. In other words, the only delay is in the establishment of a sale date. Continuing the double talk, if and when they establish a sale date, there will thereafter be no delays, but who knows when they will set a sale date. More to the point, McLaren promises that, when they finally commit to a sale date, they will honor that date, but they remain free to delay the establishment of a sale date ad nauseam without actually delaying anything. o_O

I absolutely agree, but they won’t be shipping any cars to customers until software is fixed, so even though deposits are down it’s pushing back production even more. They can only build so many cars at once. Unless they’re building the cars and will update the software after they’re built
It appears that this may be the case. I think McLaren is continuing to build cars while it finalizes the software. I heard somewhere that there are completed cars waiting for software updates before they can be shipped. My dealer has repeatedly told me that the current delays will not affect the December delivery of my car. The only way that is accurate is if the May, June, July, and August builds are proceeding as scheduled.

According to the GSM of my dealership, McLaren NA advised US dealerships that they will begin receiving demo Arturas during early September (e.g., next week), and initial customer deliveries shortly thereafter (also September). Meanwhile, McLaren continues to build new Arturas that will receive updated programming after they are built. For example, a build slot that was frozen in April 2022 was just built in August 2022. It sounds like there will be a significant volume of Artura deliveries beginning in September and continuing through the Fall. Fingers firmly crossed.
