they did not learn from their mistakes
No communication No information
I’m disappointed
The good news is the CEO is being replaced. The CEO sets the measuring sticks and thus behaviour......build integrity didn't make the list. The internal employees are aware of the build issues but have been thwarted by the CEO's lack of leadership on that issue. The Atura has a tested and proven engine, plus the battery system and motor but the control software has been their challenge. It's on its way sometime in the future!

lets hope so, not sure i agree on the tested and proven engine, isnt it a new internal design. first time mclaren has built their own engine ever...
I an ss much it's done x million miles/hours.......no major component failures and oilways sound. As we know full engine production can cause problems if components/assembly varies from the mules but that is very rare....but can happen, ahhhhhhhhhhhh

Micklaren have no expertise in designing or engineering internal combustion engines…..Ricardo are experts, designing engines for leading global brands such as BMW et al. So it’s a fair guess where the engine is coming from…..it’s not Woking.

The Artura GT3 OR IS IT 4 was running at Donnington track last week and posting fast times so I presume it may be nearing production......but it's a BIG assumption.

so is this saying basically you should always have the car plugged in whenever possible?

I haven’t gotten any details about charging from dealer…is my regular socket enough?
It's the same advice with the 296GTB ( the warranty is conditional on following the advice) but they have a domestic plug in converter, and I would guess Mac have the same, for those who do not have a high voltage dedicated charger.

Has anyone gotten any word on dates when deliveries will actually happen or if the software updates have been resolved?
Yesterday, at McLaren HQ, the cars we tested had the latest software update (4.3 claimed) which is the final iteration for current production. The car I drove was seemless in its drivetrain switching between modes and in motion. The software was released last Friday.

if you can afford 200+k on a car, you can afford 50k more. just buy the real thing and get the 296...
only thing against the 296 is that you would probably look at 2024 delivery if you tried to order one.
having said that, that might not be much later than the Artura...
My UK Artura is optioned at £215k but my 266GTB is £280k......iirc the Fezza has a lot more expensive options, paint/wheels/interior but as you say it's not competing with the Arthur. Must say the 296 is a tech tour de force, with seamless integration of power trains on the move but the Arthur has sublime steering and better visibility from the cockpit.

Drove the Artura yesterday at the Millbrook Proving Ground in the UK. About a dozen cars being thrashed all day. It seems sorted. On the mile straight we hit 190 mph before the need to brake and make it round the elevated bend at the end. Chatter that supply chain shortages still a big issue. On the Alpine route it gripped and rotated with ease, the steering is near perfect, the brakes awesome and box fast and smooth.

As for the binnacle. It's not offensive. The touch controls look interesting, but that the binnacle moves with the wheel seems like it could be annoying to line up the sight correctly. As long as it lines up ok, it's fine. But cannot say I'm a fan. Looks serviceable.
That binnacle does not work for me as the steering wheel gets in the line of sight. If you have a long back or a short one you can't fully see the screen.......and of course can't move the wheel out of the way as the binnacle is attached.

The reason is so your fingers always reach the mode rocker switches , on either side......well attach them behind the wheel. !!!

You'd need to be freakishly long of body for the wheel to interfere! lol. I'm 6'3" and the view of the binnacle was perfect. That said, I didn't like it because it was so close to the wheel, although my guess is I'd get used to that. The graphics were also not as pleasing to the eye as they are on mine, but that's probably also something I'd get used to, but I really love the graphics on my 570.
Well, I'm a freak. 6' 2" but long back and the top of the steering wheel blocks out the upper screen. The dealer rep is 5' 8" and the bottom of the wheel blocks his view.

Have you tried the club sport seat? The rear end goes a lot lower than the comfort seats.
That's what the car/s had. Incidentally, the comfort seat was not comfy!

Anyone else concerned about the delay in the early VIN (<330) deliveries? We see deliveries of later build cars but no delivery of early cars that have been sitting around for a year …. Can’t be just software, what else? Battery replacement? New components/modules? Engine/Transmission seals? Haven’t seen any info from McLaren ….
It was about altering the engine cooling hardware as I remember. The oil cooler was said to be the culprit iirc.

This informs, from the 3rd quarter 2022 results

After 30 September 2022 the Group identified certain technical upgrades that are required to ensure Artura customers enjoy optimum long-term performance. These upgrades are resulting in delays to wholesale shipments and customer deliveries.

What could this be?
My understanding is a change of oil cooler and software upgrades. The management of battery and engine integration which is software/sensor-driven.

Don't forget any changes need to be tested and proven to work.

Wow, those sound pretty substantial. I wonder if Mclaren is going to retrofit that oil cooler to the few early cars that went out? I also wonder when we’ll see the first over air update hit?

Did the Elva have over air updates? I wonder if the 750 will.
My understanding is that no cars are released until the upgrade is completed. The Artura I drove at Millbrook proving ground was thrashed within an inch of its life, by the pro driver and I tried my best, for 6 hours, without any trouble. I think there were at least 6 cars going thru' the same treatment.

Not that it helps anyone but I've been waiting 18 months for a Lotus Emira, first promised in July, then Sept......etc, and now 2023. No specific reasons given other than 'supply chain' issues. So I have cancelled and get a Porker in Jan 23. I can get an Artura in 4 months but will wait until it is sorted. I have had two driving sessions in the Artura, one thrashing at Millbrook Proving Ground and none of the cars, on the day, had problems but the Mac staff did say a final software update was due! As an early adopter of the 12C amongst other Mclarens I think delaying the Artura is a good step by the 'new' management........being a beta tester with an early 720S was a complete waste of time before I rejected it. The replacement 720S was solid and a very different day-to-day experience.

Ferrari dealers are reporting problems with the 296GTB in customers' hands......given Ferrari produced a forerunner model, the million-dollar SF9O, with hybrid tech it just shows that this technology/drivetrain is at a beta.

I still think Mclaren are strategically correct to delay the launch until they judge its fit for purpose.....but I don't have one on order, yet, lol.
