Anyone else think 3-piece rims have run their course?
I think so... its 70s techology. You end being the same weight as a cast wheel with less structural integrity. Its like comparing 1 solid structure vs multipiece structure that is bolted on. The play and flex on the multipiece structure is going to be way more than a 1 pc solid structure. That ends up not being too good in terms of stability...

Now HRE monoblocs, on the other hand... ...<drool>

Also - unless you spend a ton of $ on a 3-piece rim with (say) HRE - you're going to get a very heavy, very weak rim - I've seen so many bent "hoops" on 3-piecers (even on HREs)...

But who knows - maybe a set of gold-web BBS wheels would do the trick. ;-)

Someone needs to photoshop some vintage wheels onto the 12C.

Gold BBS, Polished Minilites. Magnesium Halibrands (from the Cobra!). A set of Rudge... etc. The iconic sporty wheels of the past. May as well do a set of fat whitewalls while you're at it!
