I've been shopping for a MP4-12c for a few weeks now and I'm wondering if anyone here paid below MSRP? If so how much of a discount did you receive? The dealer that I am working with is telling me they delivered 56 cars, all at MSRP not a penny off!! By the time I left, the car was discounted $7,500 off MSRP. Is this a good deal? I feel like I could have gotten it down a little cheaper...

Was the discount stritly for the non functioning Nav and Blu-Tooth? Is the car currently in their inventory, or is this for a car that you are ordering from scratch?

The car was in their inventory and they said the updates would be free in October when they come out.
Well, discounts for cars under 1000 miles are up to and over 40k, have to decide if under 50 miles is worth that amount of coin to you. Would not be to me, and probably get $2200 full front clear bra for nothing with many of the higher mile pre-owned one's.

I actually found a good deal on a 900 mile Titanium silver car. The car has a 284 window and they are selling it to me for 255. Their also giving me $5000 more than anyone on my LP-560 that I am trading in. So if all works out hopefully I'll be driving it on Tuesday :D

The Economy is tough right now. It is most definitely a buyer's market. Even people with loads of money are being cautious. Sounds like you have figured out that there are much better deals out there than $7500 off.

Good luck with the deal.

I much prefer to spec this or any new car to my very own individual tastes. Not interested in bargain sales, in any way, shape or form. :)
.... (I only like, what I like) ;)
Lol aren't you cool! So if you found a pre-owned car with 1000 miles spec'd exactly like your "tastes" for 30-50k off MSRP you would still buy new? You must work for the US Govt. :)

I only buy new, Mister thorn in everyone's side ! ..... Ain't I cool.
The car dealers sure think you are cool. Probably get roses sent to you every month. Must have one of those money trees in your back yard.

Would you please stop making personal insults? They are not appreciated on this board.

He is entitled to his opinion on how he purchases cars, and you are entitled to yours. But there is no need to demean him just because you disagree. There are many smart people on this board - you can't always be right.
There is no reason for his comment period. This thread is about saving money off retail. If he buys his cars brand new, he has nothing to add, or comments to help the OP. Please go back to post #1 and see if his comment is at all helpful.

The OP asked if a certain discount was a "good deal". IMO if the car isn't what you want than it isn't a good deal at all. Especially when a quarter million USD is being handed over. I am not aware of anyone paying less than MSRP for a bespoke car.

you have a 458 on order....you are obviously late to the party there....what realistic discount are you getting on that....as you will most certainly take a hit on that car as well....I dont like taking a hit on any car I pick up and yet it's part of the game, illness we have....

Ok, but when asked more questions to clarify what he was actually making offers on, it came back a few cars that were low mile pre-owned cars, with less that 1000 miles.

There are many people paying less than MSRP for brand new cars, but this is strictly to compensate for the non-functioning Nav and Blu-Tooth in my current understanding.

I am getting no discount, but I am also getting by being patient, a car with race seats (hard to find pre-owned), cruise control (very hard to find), CFRP (some cars have 1/2 interior carbon), and an MSRP way below the current prices being asked for 2012's with less options, and or options that I do not want, nor do I want to pay for. Avg. asking market for 2012's is over 300k, some at 319 with Daytona seats. My MSRP is 283k. I can't even buy a pre-owned 2011 equipped similarly to my spec with 2k miles for less than 289k.

I am planning to trade for a 458 Scud, or hopefully get my deposit moved to the Scud version, but it has still not been formally announced.

As for being late, I have never been one to buy a brand new released model. Based on history, I would like to see the bugs get worked out first, and then buy in the 2nd or 3rd model year.

It is refreshing to see on this Forum the lack of problems with the MP4. All I have seen so far is: Blown off intake hose (easy fix), and complaints about the knock noises the chassis makes going over speed bumps sometimes. One owner had to do a reset after a drag run, but most modern day cars with the amount of computers involved all face this issue.

McLaren put the IRIS discount in the window sticker so there wasn't a discount off the MSRP/Window price.
