I heard from my dealer today that the Iris upgrade will not be available for the first US deliveries in January and February, and that those customers are being offered a discount on the Iris option to compensate.

Is this new or old news?

I thought the previous guidance was that the Iris upgrade would be available in January, and that this was another two month slip in the schedule, but I wasn't sure.

I was told they might use Doris instead of Iris. Apparently Iris is unreliable.....

Sorry i was a bit word blind when i saw your first post.It was never a guarantee for january,a bit of a moving goalpost i think.Still you get a fantastic sound system at a massive discount as a consolation.

I'm well informed that Iris has now got competition from Doris, Gertrude and Melanie.

£5000 is a lot for Iris. She must be a good looker!

My wife is getting suspicious that I'm prepared to shell out £5000 on Iris.

Not sure how to explain that Iris is worth it! How often are you prepared to spend so much without even knowing how the good's will perform?

We are mug's where Iris is concerned!!!!

I would think at least £3500 of that will be the Meridian sound system, have you seen the price of their gear, makes B&O look like Alba.
Looks that way if you now only get a £1500 discount in the states, seems like thats the real cost of Nav and bluetooth
And we already know how good the sound system is!!!!

Andy, are you saying Iris is cheaper in the States, hence the smaller discount?

I guess everything is cheaper and bigger in the States. We only have bigger tax and that reminds me the UK Govt. is getting £36,000 from my dalliance with Iris......OK and the car

this is a little indecent that this type of car doesnt have a gps for standard equipement...

then you have to pay one of the most expensive gps multimedia stuff on the market, + you don't know about the quality either

at last you don't have the option when you'll take the car ...

We are really kind customers... arent we ?

The worst of it is my Audi GPS, which is the best part of £2k, could not route me yesterday to an address in South London but my HTC smart phone routed me there no problem.

It will be very galling if Iris is not top kit ot totty for £5k.

Actually Mclaren could irritate a lot of advocates.........but in Mclaren we trust.

And I do but £5k demands a lot of trust!

I don't need/want GPS on this car!!! Who needs a fancy sound system when you have 600 hp's behind your ear! I hope they'll let me spec it without the infamous "Iris".

No,what i mean is that the IRIS at £5100 includes Nav,bluetooth and one of the best in car systems you can get.The first adopters have got it all for free, even though the sound system works fine.Mclaren can only stand this for so long,so they have had to make the second round of customers pay for the Meridian sound system, but not the NAV which they get for free, hence the $2000 discount.
