Think of it as an Apple Car Play compatible device. It plugs into your USB-C ports, then it shows in your McLaren as an Apple Car Play device, but it's not, it will show up as a full fledged android tablet if you will.

The very same service will allow for Android Auto from your phone over Bluetooth on your Artura screen. As well as apple car play.

Think of it as a trifecta. You are cheating your Artura into thinking it's connected to an Apple car play device.
So you're running two Android devices using the same screen? How do you switch back to the car system?

but the thing is i did bring this up to service.. they plugged in and the apple car play worked so they were like its of no issue !
I just bought the Ottocast for the Subaru. I can connect to the car on the phone with a wire, but it took three different cables before it worked. The Ottocast connected perfectly first time, but I can't get the phone to connect to it wirelessly, it knows it's there because there's a message about Android Auto trying to connect but it never establishes a connection. The phone is still on Android 12, which I suspect is the issue, I'll be updating it in a few weeks probably to 14.

Best work around is delete the phone BT pairing from the car infotainment and phone also. Then fire up the Ottocast (or whatever the vendor is) Then under Ottocast there is an app called "Multiplay" then on your phone you should see an "AA" or "ACP" request just accept as you would normally do, and then it'll work.

The main problem is when you connect BT to your car's infotainment, and the Ottocast, and the Multiplay and some others, it create confusion on the smart phone ends and just from one connection to the next.
I tried that! The process is very confusing at first, but when connected to Ottocast, the phone shows up on the home screen in the corner, but Android Auto still won't connect, so the Ottocast has no Internet connection.

Ok, I tried it again after opening the Multicast app, then pairing, and it worked! Android Auto connected and the map went live. Thanks for the help!

Take the time to get comfotable, to be honest, now that I have installed all the apps I need under the Ottocast I do not use AA anymore I use everything within the platform. I just set my phone to "Auto HotSpot" and I am ready to go. I get split screen etc... And can use apps not even supported under AA
That was going to be my fallback, just hotspot to the phone and use it in standalone mode. AA is fine though, my usage is navigating while streaming the radio, that way I can get traffic (speed trap) alerts and they will interrupt the radio. This device was a great find. It's a clever idea to use the Carplay APIs to enable Android Auto.

I tried the cheaper wireless dongle and it didn't work with my 2023. But the OttoAiBox did. Plugged it in and it loaded by itself. It self-rebotted 2x to adjust the screen resolution. Thereafter, I connected the bluetooth on my Samsung to the OttoAiBox and was able to play Pandora and listen to audiobooks from my phone. Not sure if I can mirror my phone's screen to the car, will need to do some research on it.
You just have to start the app,I think it's called multiplay, then set it to automatic start subsequently.
