A Tale of Two British

Well, I had another awesome day at McLaren Philly last Saturday. Once again Rich and Chad rolled out the red carpet and I had an amazing run in a 12C with CCB's. There is little doubt that the CCB's are fantastic under a number of conditions. So I finalized my order for my spider including some tasty MSO (though reasonable) bits and begin the wait until 2013. Unfortunately, I was not granted my appeal to expand my property to make another garage space available. So I am left with the sad decision to possibly sell my V12 Vantage. This comes with a heavy heart. I have another home in Rhode Island that does not have a garage and I may pursue an addition there but I live in an historic district that may make things difficult. So I am offering my beloved AM to a good home of those who appreciate this kind of art. I can't live with the idea that it would sit on a lot or get sent to Russia(no offense). I will be reasonable knowing that I have a number of customized extras like the HRE's and the Venture shield form detailing dynamics. Please PM me with interest and I will give you a full list of the goodies and any other data.

Congratulations!!!! What color?

Very nice AM. That would be my choice if I were to get one.
Have you considered off site storage for the Aston - one of those specialty car garage places? I had a friend who had a similar issue with garage space and kept a trio of cars at a local self storage place - not quite the lap of luxury but they were secure and indoors when he wasn't driving them. Since you're in PA, maybe you could find a nice Amish barn to rent? Plenty of room and you can leave the keys in the car and not have to worry about them borrowing it when you aren't looking. ;)

Maybe keep it around long enough to figure out just how much you will miss it when the McLaren arrives? Several people here have found little reason to drive anything but their 12Cs.

Congrats on the Spider order - looking forward to seeing your spec since you've had quite a while to figure out every last detail.

Jaymoney.

You know that Vantage V12 will be the last traditional sports car ever made as legislation regulates the breed to extinction.

It is a very special car to drive and in complete contrast to the MP12.

If there was one car I would try to keep ( as well as a 993 911 ) it would be the Big Aston Muscle Car. I don't think there is another car that come close to it's unique combination of beguiling qualities!

The MP12 is from another era, the 22nd Century, and thus would make a great stable with the Aston. Add an air cooled 993 and you would be the envy of the Western World. And Russia too.
Jaymoney, funny, I was in the same boat as you.

If possible, keep the V12V until you have got the Spider. You'll soon find out, if it's worth to keep the AM beside the McL.

IMHO the 12C makes the V12V feel very yesterday. If that it a good thing or not is up to personal taste.

I'm not a collector kind of guy, so sadly my V12V had to go.

It's funny how we must all think alike.

Roundincircles: Everything you said encapsulates my feelings on the V12V, it's place in history, the changes in manufacturing and how it would contrast the 12C

McD: I am also not a collector and I generally buy a new exotic every 2-3 years. I have loved almost all of them but the new car always seems to help me forget (like women).

Pelotan: I found a storage facility. However as you said, I may not reach for the keys knowing that I have the 12C. It's difficult to find the time to drive now. So if I have a limited opportunity to drive, it would probably be the McLaren.

Falb: Let's just say we think alike about colors
Trade the Aston on a DBS Volante, problem solved
I had a 2009 DBS for a few years and after driving the 12C it became a beautiful expensive paper weight. You won’t miss it!!! A 911 Turbo or Turbo S is a much better companion car to the 12C.

Are the pics on your computer hard drive? Or on the web somewhere? Or on your phone.

Okay, if you want to try from iPad, download the app called "Tapatalk" from the App Store on your iPad. Once installed, you will have to find the McLarenLife forum. I could not locate it using the search feature, but I found it by browsing the Network directory (see buttons along bottom of screen in the Tapatalk app). Tap "Network", then "Automotive", then sort using "by Category" instead of "by Popularity". Then tap "Others". Then sort "by Name". Then just keep scrolling down and the screen will keep loading more forums all the way to the letter "M". When you find McLarenLife, select it and log in with your normal username and password.

Once inside the app, find this thread and post a new reply using "Write something..." at the bottom of the screen. You will see a little Photos icon above and to the right of the virtual keyboard (to the left of the little bird). That will let you select the picture from your iPad and post it. I just did it all as a test, using the PP11 pic, above. Notice you still need to post at least 5 characters ($$$$$), for the post to work.

Beautiful car, Jay. Sad to see you sell it. I ran into a similar garage space problem after I decided to pick up a MP4-12C of where to put my incoming V12V (ironically). Solved the problem by finding a new house with double the garage space. :D

Looking forward to seeing the new spider and hope your V12V finds a good home.

Well done! Beautiful, and those cars complement one another, I might add. :)
