CYVN holdings is either going to be the absolute best thing to happen to McLaren or the worst. I am excited for them to get NIO involved with the brand.
Ron & Gordon hated the SLR. It was against everything McLaren stood for. Heavy weight, huge transmission tunnel impinging on cockpit environment & flawed dynamics. They only became involved because as majority shareholders at the time, Mercedes forced them to.
It's encouraging to hear Collins mention the SLR as a product they would like to revisit. I feel McLaren need a front engined GT car with McLaren DNA. Invest in a new carbon tub for the front engine architecture, add in the luxury they keep mentioning, and you could have a class leading car in the segment.
I’m liking what I’m hearing @SSO and can’t wait to see McLaren’s vision early next year. Would love to see a front engined super GT Amalfi/vanquish competitor, perhaps something like this:
