720s transmission in a 12C?

Hey everyone
Having issues with my transmission and looking into options and possible upgrades. Does anyone know if a 720s transmission is compatible with the 12C? If you have experience with them please message me.

It’s a stronger transmission that can hold more power reliably. Who wouldn’t want that?

If there is some way to pull this off and it actually could work, at that point go for the 750/765 transmission with the shorter gearing.

I always thought every mclaren till the artura/750/765 had the same transmission?

Didn’t think it’d fit honestly. More difficult to obtain for sure.

will work.minor differences in vents but all else is similar. bolt pattern ,splines,output cv are all similar.

yes for the most part . sport trans miss the spoiler fluid ports.

It's the same transmission, short of some minor mounting differences. What leads you to believe it's stronger? They literally use the same clutch.

Purely anecdotal evidence honestly. Are there no benefits to installing one over a 650s transmission? If not I won’t bother but figured it was worth looking into.

What I can tell you is, 720 transmission won't work (it's been tried, software doesn't jive), and a 650 transmission is identical in every way to a 12C transmission, as well is a 675LT transmission.

Interesting Nice to know that the transmission is “overbuilt” on the 12C/650.

I have personally installed both a 720S transmission AND a 765LT transmission into my 2012 12C.

There are hardware modifications required to the transmission housing to make it fit. We have mastered this part of the install :cool:

The car will run and drive... but barely.

As soon as you give it higher RPMs than 2000 the internal transmission sensors are different and the car goes into limp mode requiring a restart to reset and allow you to continue driving.

So we are currently are working on the differences in the TCU and PCCU software to discover and re-write the code to use the newer trans in the older car... standby, but no ETA as this is not our primary project right now.
