600LT Laguna Seca Lap

With the Laguna Seca repavement scheduled for May/June this year, we are all curious about the grip level of the new surface, how new curbing changes the geometry of the track, and if the new pavement will be a faithful reproduction of the original profile.

In the meantime, here's a lap from the archives by a non-pro driver on street tires. A 1:31.xx lap was in reach, but didn't quite come together start to finish.

What tires ?
Goodyear 3R.
But of course
I need some rear 3 R’s but have not found any
Have new 3 R fronts I bought a year ago
Hate to put Hoosiers R7’s on the rear or Pirellii Corsas but I might

It's a shame that it's a discontinued tire in McLaren sizes.

You have knowledge that it is an abandonment and not just a typical back order situation ?
Effects just the 28535/20 or other sizes like the 305 20 which is a good rear also
Yikes
I will push my source for info also
My understanding is that the only sizes to continue beyond existing stock are Camaro ZL1 tires.
Makes sense
My best track competitors for my C7 Corvette are those Camaros ( as well as GT3 and GT3RS P cars and ZR1Corvettes and full race Corvettes ) Have not has a C8 pass me yet but it’s coming

I spent 14 months with a deposit down waiting on 305-30/20’s as they always said that they were back ordered. Finally gave up and went with Nankang AR-1’s back in August last year. GY discontinuing makes sense to me, but wish that would be announced clearly as the tire dealers still show them as back ordered vs discontinued.

Tirerack today 3/27/23 told me the Goodyear 3 R 285 30 20 tire has not been available since last August
But does not show it as discontinued
What is your experience with the Nankangs ?
Their street tire reputation has been traditionally bad according to a large/old/ performance tire shop here in SoCal my firm and pro racers have used for 3 decades
Is there a Michelin Cup or another Goodyear model that can work on a 600 LT ?\
I will search tomorrow
Lots of soo series choices
Wonder if the current Pirelli Corsa is good ?
Consider the Nankang AR1. No personal experience, but there are plenty of McLaren owners that run them regularly.

...

The Nankangs are doing the job for me, and don't have anything negative to say about them, especially at their price point. In all honesty, very similar to the GY 3R's, and definitely better for me than the Trofeos were.
